Money Goals. Rule #1. Continued
🧠 When we talk about the word “not”, it’s actually very simple: we just don’t have a mental image for “not”. So if I tell you “don’t do something” and you truly focus on my words (if I’m lucky), then everything will probably go the way I say.
🚦 Otherwise, if our brain really didn’t hear the word “not”, we’d all already be under cars, because someone said “don’t cross the road on a red light” and we’d walk anyway; we’d all have green hair because someone once said “don’t pour green paint on your head” — and we’d pour it, because supposedly we didn’t hear the “not”.
🧩 But the problem is that most of the processes you carry out are on the subconscious level. You perform millions of times more actions with your subconscious. That’s why, when you set a goal using “not” — it’s not necessarily critical, if you plan to achieve that goal using your conscious mind.
📉 If you set financial goals like this: “The main thing is not to earn less than $2,000 a month”, or “The main thing is not to fall into a financial hole and earn below a certain amount” — the subconscious doesn’t understand it at all, but the conscious mind does. However, conscious effort takes a lot of energy.
