Money Goals. Rule # 1

Money Goals. Rule # 1

🧠 You’ve probably already heard that goals should be phrased positively, and that we should think about money in a positive way. Have you ever heard that your brain doesn’t register the word “not”? For example, if someone tells you before a meeting: “Do not turn on your camera because our internet is bad, and it won’t handle it”. Do you hear the word “not”? The brain hears it just fine. So why do people say it doesn’t?

🧩 The thing is, we have both consciousness and subconsciousness. Your consciousness — the part that processes 3 units of information at a time — hears everything perfectly. If I focus your attention and say, “Eugenia, please be attentive. This is important: do not turn on your camera”, and if I’m lucky and Eugenia is not cooking at that moment, not watching her cat to make sure it doesn’t knock over a flower pot, and she’s really listening to me — then she’ll hear that word clearly.

🔄 The problem starts when Eugenia is busy. And we remember — we’re almost always busy. In such a moment, the subconscious takes over and acts according to habit. And the subconscious thinks in images, sounds, emotions, and states. If I ask you to recall any memory — how you spent your summer, time with loved ones, what you did yesterday, what you ate — it will come as a picture. No person (except in cases of specific developmental conditions) thinks in written text. It’s usually either a sound — we hear someone talking or waves crashing near us — or we remember the feeling of sand and warm water, or we see the image. We think through our senses.

🎨 Now tell me — what kind of image should I draw for Eugenia so she doesn’t turn on her camera? And what kind of image would represent not being poor? Think: how would you depict the feeling, the visual, of a person who is not poor, who doesn’t lose money?
