It is set to hit the silver screen on July 7, the same date that Sridevi debuted in the industry with her first release in 1967.

Sridevi's acting was tremendous in MOM. She just nailed it with her performance. Nawazuddin Siddiqui also did great acting. He just transformed himself. Others (including Akshay Khanna and Sajal ALi) did their job very well. A good screenplay and story makes the movie attractive. The second half of the movie is brilliant. The way by which Sridevi takes revenge is totally different and is awesome. This movie excellently captures the motherly love . So a must watch for everyone who loves his/her mother

Wondering what to watch on May 8? Stream these flicks on Amazon Prime, Netflix and Disney+.
What does Mom always say she wants for Mother's Day ? Every year, she opines that she just wants to spend time with her family. So while you might find the best Mother's Day gift , think up the best menu for Mother's Day brunch or even plan the perfect Mother's Day activity , when the presents are unwrapped, the dishes are cleared and everybody's pooped, just flopping down on the couch to watch a movie works, too.
It's fitting, because movies are full of memorable moms: great moms, terrible moms, heroic moms and moms of all stripes. So, no matter what type of films she likes, you can find a mom-centric movie to go with it, as our list of the best Mother's Day movies can attest. If she likes to laugh, there are lots of zany comedies with mothers incongruously getting into improper situations. If she likes to be thrilled, there are plenty of mysterious , suspenseful and downright horrific tales that happen to gaslit moms. Plus, there are plenty of prestige movies, including many of this year's big awards nominees. Let Mom choose her fave, and all you have to do is provide the popcorn and drinks!
For something the whole family can enjoy, Turning Red is ostensibly about a teenager who turns into a giant red panda every time she experiences strong emotions. But deep down, it's also about the relationships between mothers and daughters, and how they bring about those emotions.
Can an artificial being truly become a part of a family? And what is a family, anyway? The quiet, contemplative After Yang grapples with these questions as it follows a family whose artificial "big brother" for their only daughter goes unresponsive.
Based on a novel by Elana Ferrante , The Lost Daughter tells the story of Leda Caruso, a middle-aged academic off on a solo vacation. When she meets a young mom and her family on the beach, she's confronted with her own ambivalence toward motherhood. The film earned three Academy Award nominations, including nods for Best Actress (Olivia Colman for her portrayal of Leda), Best Supporting Actress (Jessie Buckley as young Leda) and Best Adapted Screenplay (Maggie Gyllenhaal, who also directed).
Outlander 's Caitríona Balfe positively sparkles as the mom in this movie about a family trying to maintain some sort of normal life as their neighborhood around them is rocked by political violence. (Bonus if your mom loves Van Morrison — there's a lot of him on the soundtrack.)
For moms who like to laugh — and who doesn't? — this ultra-silly comedy from Bridesmaids writers Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo is just the movie she needs in her life. Barb and Star aren't moms per se, but they have EME (Extreme Mom Energy). And who plays their unexpected love interest? It's Belfast 's Jamie Dornan!
If your mom digs memoirs or biographies, she'd love this impressionistic tale of one of the most famous mothers in recent memory: Princess Diana. It takes place over the course of one Christmas, and you can see how Diana feels about her place within the Royal Family, and how her biggest salvation is her relationship to her kids.
Think of it as Hustlers with much lower stakes: When former Olympic athlete Connie (Kristen Bell) finds her extreme couponing isn't getting her anywhere, she teams up with JoJo (Kirby Howell-Baptiste), a friend and deal-influencer, to start counterfeiting the coupons themselves. What happens next has to be seen to be believed — but it's based on a true story! It's great for fans of real-life scammer stories (you know who you are).
Mostly, this film is about the little-explored uncle-nephew dynamic, following a childless man (played by Joaquin Phoenix) who has to take care of his nephew Jesse (Woody Norman) while is mother is off taking care of another family member. But Gabby Hoffman plays such an Earthy mom, and Jesse feels like a real kid and not a Hollywood kid, that Mom is sure to get the feels.
If you have young kids at home, gather together and watch this movie, which reminds them that Mom is the true hero. (Just make sure you've seen The Incredibles first — the mom saves the day in that one, too.)
Tully is a warts-and-all look at motherhood, with Charlize Theron playing an exhausted mother of two (with one on the way). When she hires a "night nanny" to help out with childcare, she starts to reconcile the woman she's become with who she was before she had children.
For moms and kids whose expectations for each other don't exactly line up, there's this feel-good Netflix movie, about a young girl who, because of her former-beauty-queen mom, decides to enter a pageant despite not looking the part, opening the door for other outsiders.
Lady Bird , about a high school senior growing up in Sacremento, is the type of movie that makes you want to call your mother and apologize for all of the stupid things you did when you were a rebellious teen. For her performance as a beleaguered mom, Laurie Metcalf received a Best Supporting Actress nomination.
Watching this on Mother's Day is a win/win: If you have a great mom, you can talk about how good she looks by comparison, and if you had a "bad" mom, you can laugh with recognition. (But even the "bad moms," as this movie shows, can be pretty wonderful.)
Warning, this August Wilson adaptation isn't a feel-good mom flick. But if you want to see a mom knock it out of the park, acting-wise, there's no better than Viola Davis, who won an Academy Award for her role as the long-suffering Rose.
If your mom has nerves of steel, show her this horror flick, which proves the lengths that moms will go to in order to protect their kids. In this case, one mom has to go up against a haunting — but sharply dressed — paranormal creature who's after her son.
Moms are absent from so many Disney and Pixar movies, it's refreshing to finally see one focused on the mother/daughter relationship. The only problem is ... one of them gets turned into a bear.
The Kids Are All Right looks at the various ways we're defined by our families: It's about a brother and a sister, raised by two moms, whose suburban tranquility is disrupted when they track down their "donor dad" and invite him into their lives. Mostly, though, it's fun to think about how awesome it would be if Annette Bening and Julianne Moore were your moms IRL.
Not to be confused with the Jennifer Lawrence movie of the same name, this foreign thriller is about a mother who becomes an investigator when her son is accused of a crime, and she turns desperate in her quest to clear his name. It comes from the mind of Bong Joon-Ho, who directed the award-winning Parasite .
A strong mother/daughter relationship, a meditation on motherhood, a Greek isle and the music of ABBA — Mamma Mia! has all of the makings of a classic girl's night. Make it a double feature with the sequel, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again .
This is a feel-good story about Akeelah Anderson and her dream, aided by her mother, to compete in the National Spelling Bee. It's a good one for all the supportive moms out there.
Pulpy thriller fans and empty-nesters, this one's for you: It follows Claire (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Norman (Harrison Ford) as a couple whose daughter has recently left for college. When Claire starts to experience strange things in her lakeside house, she has to figure out if something sinister is going on, or if she's just unused to being alone all day.
If you're looking to bond over a good cry, this weepy '90s flick, where a young stepmother tries to win over her new family, will definitely do the trick. Bring lots of tissues.
Vivica A. Fox, Vanessa Williams and Nia Long play sisters who always gather on Sundays for dinner at Mother Joe's. It'll make you want to break out the family recipe book.
If you want to talk about one of the toughest movie moms (or moms-to-be) out there, you have to mention Marge Gunderson from Fargo . She single-handedly takes on a criminal investigation, all while extremely pregnant.
Little Women has been made into a movie loads of times —you can see adaptations from 2019 , 2018 , 1994 and 1933 , among others — and there's something to recommend about all of them. This one features Winona Ryder as the spunky Jo, and Susan Sarandon as the central matriarch.
Or, if your mom is a little on the irreverent side, show her John Waters' send-up of suburban moms. The campy dark comedy follows Beverly Sutphin (Kathleen Turner), a buttoned-up mom on a crusade to get everyone in her neighborhood to adhere to her rules of etiquette — no matter what.
Based on the bestselling novel by Amy Tan, this movie focuses on relationships between young Chinese-American women and their immigrant mothers, making them navigate both an age and a cultural divide.
Steel Magnolias is one of those quintessential comfort movies. Centered on a group of strong, female friends living in Louisiana, it makes you want to surround yourself with the women you love.
Talk about a powerhouse trio of actresses: Cher, Winona Ryder and Christina Ricci all play a family trying to keep it together in a movie that shows how sometimes it can be a blessing to have an unconventional mom. (Who else can relate?)
It's rare that moms get to be action heroes, but Aliens ' Ripley shows that you can care for a kiddo and kick butt at the same time. If your mom is looking for something adrenaline-fueled, it's the perfect choice.

"I am trying to get home to my 8-year-old son!"
Since we’re doing this list alphabetically (just like your mom organizes her recipe cards), first up we’ve got Back to the Future . Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) goes back in time and meets his parents as they gear up for a high school dance. The past version of his mom does try to make out with him, which is a bit awkward, but in the end Marty helps her fall in love with his father (awwwww). Maybe a little awkward to watch sitting next to your mom, but a romp nonetheless. Now streaming on Netflix.
The 2017 Best Picture–winner delivers a difficult portrait of motherhood, as Chiron witnesses his mom’s spiral into drug addiction in three acts. Naomie Harris’s Oscar-nominated turn as his mother is as captivating as it is gut-wrenching. Oh, and you’ve also got Janelle Monáe right there as another mother figure. Actors doing great work all the way around. Now streaming on Netflix.
If there was ever a boy who would be close to his mother, it is Lucas Hedges (as evidenced by all the older female costars that adore him). In this drama about a nefarious conversion therapy camp, Lucas’s Jared and his mom (played by Nicole Kidman) go on an emotional journey as they learn together to accept and celebrate his homosexuality. You will cry and also marvel at Nicole’s wigs. Now streaming on Peacock.
The second Oscar-winning mom on the list! Patricia Arquette took home an Academy Award for this quiet Richard Linklater film in which she plays the mother of a son slowly growing up before her eyes. Filmed over a 12-year period, Boyhood depicts a mother-son relationship that, while rocky at times, is ultimately strengthened through adversity. The film also features the classic “mom crying as her son leaves for college” scene. Now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
What if your son gets kidnapped, and then when the police return him, it’s not your son? Does it still qualify as a mother-son movie? I’m going to say yes. Angelina Jolie is riveting in this crime thriller as she instantly recognizes that the new boy is not the one who disappeared but is written off by the police as hysterical. If your mom doesn’t appreciate a little psychological suspense, hopefully she at least appreciates Angelina’s hats. Now streaming on Hulu.
Benjamin’s (Brad Pitt) birth mother dies in labor in this drama documenting the life of a man born old and aging backwards. Luckily, he is quickly taken in by Queenie (Taraji P. Henson), the caretaker of a nursing home (because he looks old), and the pair’s lives are intertwined as his adoptive mother continues to age while he gets younger. Of course, raising an 80-year-old with the mind of a toddler is not the norm, but I think it holds up nonetheless. Now streaming on Hulu.
“I AM YOUR MOTHER!” Or so Toni Collette shouts at Alex Wolff across the dinner table. This horror film is certainly not about a good mother-son relationship (one of them gets demon-possessed and tries to murder the other by the end), but the ride is a terrifyingly interesting one. Morals of the story: Don’t let your sister eat nuts if she’s allergic, and don’t summon a demonic presence into your home. Now streaming on Hulu.
If you’re gonna come out to your mom, here’s hoping that your mom is Jennifer Garner. When Nick Robinson’s titular character tells his mother that he’s gay in this coming-of-age rom-com, Jen delivers one of the best loving-mom monologues in cinema. Who doesn’t want a hug from Jennifer Garner and her cozy sweater? Now streaming on Hulu.
Based on the true story of NFL football star Michael Oher and his adoptive mother, Leigh Anne Tuohy, this Oscar-nominated film is a heartwarming depiction of adoptive family. Sandra Bullock won an Oscar for playing the no-nonsense southern mother ready to berate anyone on her son’s behalf. Also, before Emily (Lily Collins) was in Paris, she was Michael’s cheerleading sister. Now streaming on HBO Max.
Every mother’s worst nightmare is to accidentally leave their child home alone…for a week…while they’re on vacation in France. But for all the hijinks, this Christmas classic is really about Catherine O’Hara and Macaulay Culkin learning to love and appreciate each other. Long before Moira had David, Mrs. McCallister had “KEVIN!” Now streaming on Disney+.
And the award for cutest child in a movie ever goes to Jonathan Lipnicki in Jerry Maguire . With his spiky hair, round glasses, and endless charisma, the little tike and his single mom (played by Renée Zellweger) steal the show. You’re rooting for them to find happiness and for Tom Cruise to just shut up and make them a family. After all, he had her at hello. Now streaming on Peacock.
What’s better than one mother-son relationship in a movie? How about two? Josh Hutcherson’s Laser (what a name!) is being raised by a pair of lesbian moms played by Annette Bening and Julianne Moore. When he contacts the sperm bank to learn the identity of his father, however, he meets Mark Ruffalo and must unpack his relationships with both his moms (and his newfound dad). Now streaming on Peacock.
Good mothers teach their children not to be Nazis. In this Best Picture–nominee, Scarlett Johansson, a German during World War II, works hard to protect her son while also teaching him how to stand up for what is right. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll never be so traumatized by a pair of shoes again. Available to rent on Amazon Prime Video.
Would you look at that! Nicole Kidman is back and playing another mom with a strange wig. In this film, she’s the Australian adoptive mother of Dev Patel who got separated from his family and home as a child in India and is now desperately searching on Google Earth to find them again. Nicole’s monologue about wanting him as her son! I’ve still got goosebumps. Now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
Jerry Maguire but make it a sci-fi thriller. Emily Blunt takes the Renée Zellweger role of single mom with an adorable child, as she navigates a world of contract killers who are paid to murder people sent back in time from the future. As Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Young Joe) tries to murder Bruce Willis (his older self), the action hones in on Emily Blunt’s farmhouse and the little boy she is trying to protect. Now strea
