Mother’s Day is around the corner and I decided to create a wellness challenge in honor of all the strong mama bears around the globe. As a mom I figured the best way to celebrate is our to honor our health! Many of you may know my optimal goal in life is for us to be healthier together.
What better way to be healthier together than kicking off a 7 day wellness challenge starting on Mother’s Day, right? So here are some goodies to mentally prepare you for the week ahead. Did I mention there are PRIZES? Read the blog to find out more
Let’s be honest, most moms are GREAT at taking care of…everyone but themselves.
Motherhood is: Driving kids in a carpool, making sure family is fed, keeping calm when everyone else isn’t, the best shoulder to cry on, a driving force of community – all within one home. Sound familiar?
I used to wonder before being a mom why so many moms just stopped taking care of themselves and then the light bulb came on. I fell into the trap so many moms I admire have been in for LIGHT YEARS – the mom guilt. The idea of taking care of everyone else is IMPERATIVE, yet the idea of a mom taking time for herself to be healthy… usually seems like a joke. Why is that? I asked myself the same thing one day when I was sleep deprived, crying in the bathroom. Why do I feel so bad about wanting to just take some time alone, to workout, to rest, WHATEVER…
Motherhood is amazing – don’t get me wrong. It is the greatest job I’ve ever had. It is also the most challenging. Trying to balance it all out and be good to family, good to work and good to myself is an art. And this is exactly why I was inspired to create this challenge.
The goal of my 7 day challenge is all about making time for: YOU. If you are a mom, great – if you are a friend of a mom – great. I was inspired to create it because I wanted to give something to my mom friends, but also wanted to keep it open to ANYONE who just needs to restructure where their precious time is going. Prioritize. Reprioritize. Time is precious and is also constantly ticking. NOW is the time to make a shift. If you are reading this, and you know you should be making more time for your own self care – THIS CHALLENGE IS FOR YOU. Before we kick things off – I want you to think about the word: GOAL. What is ONE goal you have? One small goal? Something you know you want to do, but for whatever reason you have been putting it off? WRITE. IT. DOWN. NOW. And save it. Put it somewhere you will see everyday.
Here is a side by side of me, almost two years apart. The first photo is a very sleep deprived, starving, overworked, breastfeeding single mom who had NO clue WTF she was doing. I’m going to be completely honest with you – I knew I wanted to be a great mom, but had no clue how. That first picture was a strong mom who was NOT taking care of herself inside and out. Fast forward almost two years and its the same mom, but healthier both mentally and physically. that shit takes time. Discipline, consistency, priorities and making sure you are loving yourself: in and out.

My goal for you in this challenge is for 7 straight days – you are doing at least ONE thing for your mental and physical well being. Get your calendar out and block out time for one week, starting Sunday May 12.
This challenge is for ANYONE. Not just moms. This is for anyone who needs to take time for themselves. NO EXCUSES. I will have 3 structured plans through Aaptiv and will also be giving additional bonus goods on social media in case you want more. There is ALWAYS more
Here is your homework: make the commitment solid in your mind. First step: Clear at least 10-20 minutes in your BUSY ass calendar next week for YOU. Then you will be able to fully commit to this challenge. Drop a comment below with ONE small personal goal you have and starting May 12 – let’s make that goal a REALITY.
Most of all – I want to thank my mom who truly sparked my mind on this challenge. She is the best mom I know. The epitome of a great mom, grandma, friend, host, you name it she’s just all good energy. I also noticed she would always push off her own needs for everyone else’s (even my pet turtle!) so it was time for change.
Over the past few months, I worked with her to create some small health habit goals and she’s feeling and looking GREAT. A true testament that it’s never too late to start, that we are all capable of success and we all need to make time for ourselves to be healthy! Sending love to all the mama bears out there.
