Sixteen years ago, Helena Shea was an up-and-coming fashion model, until an affair with a married man, an unexpected pregnancy, and a drug scandal cost her almost everything. Now CEO of her own modeling agency and founder of a home for wayward mothers, Helena has spent years trying to atone for her sins...but with just one horrifying phone call, they come rushing back again. A depraved killer has set his sights on Helena, seeking vengeance for the day she robbed him of his only chance at happiness. Now he plans to return the favor--by kidnapping Helena's estranged daughter, Frankie. To save her, Helena must face the demons of her past, joining forces with her former lover and the journalist who nearly ruined her, embarking upon a terrifying game of cat-and-mouse. Mommy, May I? transports readers into the deepest, darkest corners of a killer's mind, a twisting psychological thriller that will resonate long after the final page is turned.
MOMMY, MAY I? By A.K. Alexander is a captivating suspense/thrillerfraught with detail and emotions. The author created a very troubled and unmerciful, psychopathic serial killer. This book ispacked with gripping suspense and heart-stopping thrills. A realpage-turner to the end. It's well written with a good mix of characters. One of the best fictional serial killers I've read. Highly recommend. By Internationally bestselling author RJ Parker "True Crime Author"
I have always loved reading thrillers. There's something intriguing tome about following a storyline that keeps the reader guessing andturning the pages. That is always my goal when I write a new thriller. When I wrote Mommy, May I? I had read quite a few thrillers and I would get to the end of thebook, and question: What made the killer a killer? Was he born that way? Did he grow up in an environment that influenced his path to kill andcause great harm? My questions were around nurture vs. nature. I'd alsoread quite a few books on FBI profiling at the time. Thesequestions made me want to write a book that showed the development ofthis killer. How had he become such a monster? It was not an easy bookto write. However, I wanted to write it. I also wanted to have a flawedcharacter (Helena) who has overcome some really painful obstacles inlife and put her on a new path--one of improvement. Then, there isFrankie (Helena's daughter). In many ways, this story has twoheroines--Helena and Frankie. Frankie is a sixteen-year-old, strongwilled girl, and when the killer takes her, he doesn't know that he mayhave met his match. If you like thrillers with strong female leads and a little romance in them, I hope you will check out Mommy, May I?

Have you ever read a book where you felt disturbed reading it, and yet you couldn't put it down? This book was that way for me. While I read, I cried for the little boy and the way life hit him, while feeling so disturbed as I watched him change. The characters in this book were well developed to the point I had to take a deep breath in order to continue the book. I read and watch suspense, murder mysteries all the time and usually guess about half way through how it is going to end. Not so with this book. I get bored when the characters are so wonderful they don't seem human. Helena in this story almost seemed too good, and I wondered if she was indeed the problem in this story instead of a victim. I was happy to see she had flaws and truly was good to others. I felt the pain the child was going through with each chapter, and felt the terror he gave to other people. I was outraged to know how all the adults had set him up as a killer in his life before he was even born. I know this is a work of fiction, but it brings about intense emotions... where you cry for the pain, the suffering of all involved in this child's life as he continues to spread his evil desires while growing into a man. It made me lock my doors, and pray for innocent victims. As with many serial killers, this child was a victim who instead of getting help to deal with all the evil in his life, he spread evil around while blaming the victims for his decisions. It made me feel queasy with how much he enjoyed killing. This was the first time I have read a book from this author, and went back to the Kindle store and bought all of the books available by this author.

Mommy, May I? had a good, strong cast of characters. My thoughts on them are as follows: Richard had really gotten the short end of the stick in life and I remained on edge about what he was capable of doing. Helena was making an honest effort at doing and being better. I was worried for her after the whole "van" incident. I felt for Frankie and all she had to endure thanks to circumstances completely out of her control. There were constantly a lot of interesting things happening in this book from chapter to chapter. It kept me engaged throughout its entirety. I was dying to know the connection between Richard and Helena through Brianne, and why he wanted to ruin her life so badly. As the book reached its climax, I was shocked and couldn't turn the pages fast enough to satisfy all of my curiousities. Then, just when I thought everything was over and done with for Helena and her family, there was still more to come. Mommy, May I? had so many twists and turns. It was a fabulous story and I really enjoyed. I am definitely looking forward to reading more from A. K. Alexander.

First off I have to say this because someone may review this before buying the book. THIS BOOK IS NOT FOR EVERYONE. IF YOU DON'T LIKE SEXUAL STUFF DO NOT PURCHASE IT. Okay, I had to say this because people will rate it a 1 star because of that. This was a very well done book. There are several groups of characters so you will need to keep track of them. After a while you figure them all out but if you put the book down & return later sometimes you have to think who is who. It is not that bad but I would recommend you read this book as close to one sitting as possible. The characters are well fleshed out - the killer in particular. No question why he was like he was. The story is gripping. The only reason I am rating it a four is because of the reporter/FBI (or whatever the acronym was for his dept) love story. Kind of weird & really didn't add anything to the story. She could have been just a regular reporter who wanted to help Helena out. It drives me crazy when people fall in love in one second:) I also figured out some of the little mysteries before they were finished. The ending Hawaiian scene with Richard was just too predictable. Other than that I look forward to reading any other books by this author.

Mommy May I is the first A.K. Alexander book that I have read and I really enjoyed it. Helena Shea was a teenage mother-to-be who had to make the ultimate decision...Do I keep my child with me, or let the father(who is married) raise the baby as their own? Helena believes she makes "the best" decision for her child and gives her baby up. This once young mom who was wrapped up in the lifestyle of a supermodel and bottomed out has finally gotten her act together. Now in charge of her own company and using much of her money to help young girls that are a reflection of her former self, Helena has a real shot at having a relationship with her daughter who is now a teenager. But fate seems to have other plans. A killer is on the loose and Helena Shea and all things connected to her seem to have a huge target on their backs. Will Helena be able to handle the stress, the fear, and the torment caused by this evil killer. Will Helena finally be able to have a relationship with her daughter, or will that chance be gone forever once the killer sets his final plan in motion?

I could not put this book down under 4 hours, this writer is incredible. I love a good mystery thriller, this one is way over the charts. My mouth hung opened at the 3rd chapter to the end and stayed that way, it was a good thing I was in the house so bugs wouldn't fly in my mouth. I stayed up all night to finish this book and I was only on chapter 37 and there is 57 chapters I had to finish. Some parts I didn't read at night, but got up early to start again especially on weekends. I did spend a whole day reading this book with several cups of different teas and snacks on my couch and out on my deck when weather let me but it was great curled in my bed. I plan on reading more books by A.K. Alexander the suspension that this book had me go through was great. It grabbed me from the start and didn't let go. I cried, got pissed, laughed, cheered, held my breath alot, and sighed with sadness. All I love in a excellently great book. YOU GOT TO THIS BOOK!!!!!! You will not be DISAPPOINTED.

Bring Back Holly Jennings !

I didn't like this one as much as I did Daddy's Home. It seemed like it was a sequel or something and all the back story should have been in a separate volume as it seemed to crop up and confuse the reader THEN was glossed over as to what it all meant. It happened a few times in the story and I wasn't keen on reading it like that. There were apostrophe mistakes and off was used in a sentence instead of out and there were a few instances where speechmarks were left out and drivel spelt as drivle/feebie spelt as freebie. These were annoying. I wasn't keen on Patrick.......he seemed a selfish sod, if you ask me. I think it would have been a lot better if it was longer and we were told all of the varying past stories and therefore didn't keep jumping around as we read. Bring back Holly Jennings, I say !!

Unsure what I think?

I picked this up thinking it sounds like a good psychological thriller. Well I've laughed at places where I don't think I should of done. The main character Richard Shelton who is the psychopath. His past is so excruciating that I wouldn't wanna meet him on a dark night. His parents are a weird set and I swear incest was part of the storyline (weird I know). Some of the story was like boring and I was like "Get on with it and hurry up with the story". Helena and her family and stuff is ok, just felt sorry for her, as the lead original police officer had a grudge against her as well as the main psychopath Richard Shelton. I'm not sure if I fancy reading anymore of her books, but will see what the synopsis is on the next books.

Quite probably the worst book I have ever read.

I have no recollection of why I purchased this. It may have been a good review, or an intriguing blurb, or perhaps a successful marketing ploy - which is why I feel it necessary to warn you, dear prospective reader! This is not what it seems. It is a rather pedestrian exercise in trying to recreate the febrile excitations of the disturbed mind of a whackdoodle with a serious mommy hang up. You see the plot "twist" coming way over the horizon, and the characters are wooden with no development or nuance, as flat as the paper dolls kids played with back in the 1960s. If you can summon enough investment to care about how it ends, or simple dogged determination to get to the end, disappointment is inevitable. There is simply nothing to redeem this book. Save your money and watch paint drying instead. It's far more stimulating!

Really Good Read

Enjoyed the book, definitely a page-turner and hard to put down. Though comparatively tame, I think, for hardened readers of detective-type tales, a perfect read for me who hates too much horror and suspense. Having said that, I think there were one or two things thrown in that had potential but were never actually used (won't say what as would spoil), and at around 50% there was a detail that did not fit with a previous related detail - can't remember precisely what as too keen to carry on reading to make a note!

Really enjoyed this book it is the second timeI've read this author (was surprised to find it was written by a lady). I do like serial killer books but these always have a romantic twist-pretty predictable the romance bit always a happy ending - but some bits were to me quite scary & tense. I will definitely read her books again. If you decide to read it then I hope you like it too!
