Eleanor Alspaugh is currently an author and part-time photographer. Raised in Hatboro, Pennsylvania, she graduated from Shippensburg University and has been a long time resident of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, where she resides with her husband Stephen and family. Formerly an Assistant Vice President, she somehow found time to capture in writing some of the antics of raising her three kids and experiencing life as a working wife and mother. The Mommy-Go-Round is the result and is a humorous and heartwarming account of motherhood, childhood and everything in between. Eleanor is currently working on a book called The Heart of a Soldier which is centered primarily around her Father's World War 2 experiences as a soldier as written in his letters home to her Mother. The letters share his life as a soldier as well as his love for her Mother and their hopes for a future together. The book also includes Eleanor's reflective thoughts and feelings and touches on select events occurring during the war as well as what his outfit, The Sixth Armored Division, also known as the Super Sixth, was experiencing as the letters were being written. Eleanor looks forward to spending more time writing a sequel to The Mommy-Go-Round once The Heart of a Soldier is completed.

I chose 5 stars for this review, because as a fellow mom myself of 3 children, aged 10 and under, I find it a challenge to eat a meal without shoveling it in, let alone take time to myself to read a book, but this was such an enjoyable read for me, that I not only somehow found the time to enjoy the book but I re-read certain chapters simply because of the joy I got out of being able to relate to the author's experiences and outlook on life with children. Her descriptions of the ups and downs that come along with the merry-go-round of juggling life, marriage and parenthood not only bring humor, but a sense of a relief to know that you're not on this ride alone, and there are others out there who think and act just like you. I highly recommend this book to any mother out there, young or old, or anyone who will soon be given this ticket to ride the merry-go-round of motherhood!

Alspaugh paints a colorful picture of real life as a parent, reassuring is that we are not alone in this carnival we call parenting. Her chapter Musical Beds, in particular, reminds me of sleepless nights and kids who absolutely refuse to take naps. Her writing is real, honest and a must read for any parent wanting to know that there are others out there just like her." I bought it in Kindle for myself and in paperback a Christmas present for my niece, a first-time mom. I must disclose, the writer is my cousin, but she has not asked me to purchase or comment, and I am so impressed by her work and would be if we weren't related!
This book hands down has to be one of the best books i have read on motherhood. I myself am a mother to a five year old and a step mother to an eight year old. I have been reading so many books on motherhood and how to be there for them as they grow but they're all statistics and don't have a lot of stories/ memories in them. This book has me excited for this crazy mommy go round ride that I'm on! The author was smart, witty, comical, and a Witch at 10 pm! I cannot wait until this fresh new author comes out with more books!
Do not let the first name fool you. I am a pop not a mom. yes, I loved the book. it was well written and extols the virtues of family life and beyond all of that it was humorous. in fact, we liked it so much we handed out a few extra copies to friends for Christmas. I especially found the chapters about brothers and parents captivating. Many of us have been through that. Its NOT fun but shows the strength of the human spirit to persevere through difficult times. Keep the books rolling over the press. KUDOS to the author.
This book will warm your heart, make you laugh as well as shed a few tears! Anyone who has had the experience of raising children can relate to the stories in this book! And for those of you who have not yet had the experience of being a mother, you will enjoy it as well. El adds humor to those situations where you aren't sure if you are appreciated, gives insight on how to play detective once the little darlings reach the teenage years, and shows you that if you continue to love your children through the good and bad times, it all pays off.
Bought this book for a family member, who writes: "I truly enjoyed reading “The Mommy-Go-Round” and gladly recommend it to young women, especially newly marrieds. It is a fun read. Young women who read this book will be better prepared to guide their children through the many challenging situations which can arise in becoming and being a mother. This book can help a mother more fully enjoy her children. I can imagine many a grandmother reading this, nodding knowingly and thinking, ‘I wish I had read this while raising my children’."
I don't typically find time to read but I couldn't put this book down! This view on raising your family from inside the mind of a mom herself was fantastic! Very entertaining and comforting to know that maybe I'm not going crazy and other moms are experiencing the same ups and downs. If you are mom you have got to read this book!

Go on give it a read if you want to bring back your own Mummy memories you've forgot....
I don't normally write any reviews but for this book I felt compelled to as it is not the type of book that I would read and I want to encourage so many Mum's out there to give it a read.From the moment I started to read it at the beginning of my summer hols I was hooked. It is a genuine funny,honest and so akin to many mums out there. It brought back so so many memories of me being a young mum that I had totally forgot. Get the tissues out as it is so funny and moving that you will not regret buying this book. The author has a knack of reeling you in 'hook,line and sinker' and bring you into a Mummy world that you realise that you share with lots of Mums out there. Well done Eleanor Alspaugh and your very lovely family. P.x
