Our ongoing HerStory Films Project seeks to collect stories about love, sex, and desire from Malaysian women, with an emphasis on diversity and personal experiences of falling in—and out—of love in a distinctly Malaysian context. Five of the submitted stories are made into films with the help of established Malaysian women artists in the country, and these films has been shown as a travelling film festival around Malaysia in October 2010.

He had given his daughter "massages" on the pretext of following doctor's advice.
The girl was diagnosed with scoliosis - a spinal disorder - when she was in primary school.
But the father, 47, who cannot be named to protect his daughter's identity, took advantage of her in 2007 by molesting her during one of the massage sessions.
Yesterday, the man pleaded guilty to outraging his daughter's modesty by using "criminal force". He will be sentenced later.
The girl, who was about 11 years old then, followed him to the master bedroom of the flat in central Singapore.
Court documents showed that the man claimed he had wanted to massage her spine.
He locked the door although there was nobody else at home at the time, and told the girl to remove her shirt.
She was made to lie face down on the bed. While massaging her, he lifted her bra and told her to sit up. He then molested her.
He continued to molest her after telling her to remove her shorts and panties. The girl, who was traumatised, decided to keep silent.
The incident came to light three years later, after the girl confided in her secondary school teacher who then reported it to the school authorities.
The teacher had noticed that the girl "was exhibiting suicidal tendencies and self-injuring", court papers revealed. The girl finally made a police report in November 2010.
The man can be jailed up to two years, fined or caned.

Give Light and the People Will Find Their Own Way
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Receiving a massage from a licensed massage therapist is supposed to be a relaxing experience. However, for one woman, her relaxing experience quickly turned to a nightmare.
Danielle Dick is speaking out for the first time about the day she was sexually assaulted by a Henrico massage therapist.
“For a long time, I changed the way I went to the grocery store and I changed all my errands so that I wouldn’t have to drive by it, but it is virtually impossible not to drive by a Massage Envy, they are all over the place,” Danielle explained.
Danielle is a professor at local university, where she heads several programs. She is also a schedule-juggling, multi-tasking mother of a 10-year-old.
“It would make me sick to my stomach every time I passed a store, or saw an advertisement,” Dick continued.
She said massages were her escape and chance to recharge, but one Sunday in 2015, her whole perspective changed.
“I was actually feeling a little under the weather that day, and was going to cancel my massage but thought no it’ll be relaxing.”
Danielle said the next thing she knew, she was lying on the massage table, frozen, in shock.
She recounted the moment things went wrong. “At first you think, well that was a little odd, did his hand just slip?”
Danielle told CBS 6, that at the time, she felt violated, but afraid and confused.
“It takes a while for your brain to catch up and realize, oh no, this is what is going on.”
Danielle said she was torn about how to handle the situation. Then, came her moment of clarity.
“At the very end of the assault, he leaned over and said, ‘Our little secret, okay?’ And that was the point at which I knew, I’m going to report this, I have to report this,” she recalled.
Danielle said what happened next, made her reality even more of a nightmare.
“‘We understand that you were unhappy with your massage experience, so we won’t charge you for the massage, and if you’d like to cancel your membership, we won’t charge you a penalty fee.’”
Danielle said that was Massage Envy's response to her cry for help, and that the manager refused to call 911, and said the incident would be handled internally.
CBS 6 reached out to Massage Envy's corporate office about Danielle’s concerns. The company released this statement:
“We are deeply concerned by this and, although this is an active legal case and we can’t comment on the specifics, we have reached out to Ms. Dick, through her counsel, to continue to listen to and better understand her concerns and ideas.
We can tell you that we expect franchisees to treat every member and guest with dignity and respect, and that includes support for reporting incidents to law enforcement.
As leaders in the industry, we are passionate about developing and maintaining our policies for every franchisee as they screen and train their therapists, with the goal of stopping preventable incidents of inappropriate conduct at Massage Envy franchise locations.
We know that the members and guests that come to Massage Envy franchise locations put trust in the franchisee’s licensed or certified therapist that performs each service.
So, we are always looking to build on and improve those standards in order to create the safest and highest quality customer experience in the industry."
Today, nearly two years after Danielle reported her assault to police and endured an 11-month legal battle, court documents showed her massage therapist Daeshawn Bullard is in jail, serving a 5-year sentence, convicted of sexual battery and forcible object, sexual penetration.
However, for Danielle, the fight is far from over. She replied in Massage Envy's statement, with a written statement of her own:
"Danielle Dick confirmed that Massage Envy did reach out through her counsel, and threatened her with legal action. She noted that Massage Envy has released multiple statements similar to this one in response to sexual assaults reported at Massage Envy [locations] across the country. But they have announced no improvements to their policies in the two years since her assault happened."
She is also blogging about her assault, and has started a petition to force Massage Envy to put policies in place that protect their clients and support victims that are sexually assaulted.

Finally, Sarah gave up and decided to get her hair done instead, but by this stage, I was all psyched up and really wanted my first massage. So we split up, she went to get her hair done, I continued my massage mission.
I ended up finding a little place on the third level above the salon. It was real clinical looking. Almost like a little doctor surgery.
A local woman in her 40s opened up and finally, this one was open for business. She was very welcoming. She asked me what I wanted and I said: “Whole body please”.
She ushered me into the little room, pointed to the towels and told me to strip before she came back in two minutes.
A few minutes later she came back in and began the massage. It was nice.
This is what everyone’s been raving about, I thought.
She was doing my back, my lower back and moved down over my bum to my legs. About 25 minutes in, my body was so relaxed, I was almost falling asleep.
It must have only been her little pinky, but it brushed underneath the towel. I was like: “Oops”. Must have been an accident.
But, a few kneads later it happened again. Only this time with the tips of two fingers. It was a little higher up the back of my leg and a little further between them...
By the third time, I was wide awake. It wasn’t a little brush this time. I could definitely feel her fingers touch my balls.
This is probably what she does all the time, I reasoned, it’s a different culture, so it only becomes weird if I make it weird. So I tried to relax and we continued.
A few moments later I was relieved when she patted my bum to signal me to turn over, it was obviously a false alarm. I laid on my back with the towel on my front this time. She started massaging the front of my legs. It was a little more ticklish now.
Again she went up my thigh and again her fingertips went under the towel a bit. Again she made contact with me and I let out a little giggle.
But then I thought to myself: “We’re all professionals here Brad, don’t be a child”.
So after a bit of deep breathing, I was able to regain control. This was purely a professional interaction between a 40-year-old local woman and a newly married 22-year-old Australian man. Absolutely nothing to worry about.
Without any notice whatsoever, she pulled the towel away and grabbed my penis. I sat up straight away to cover myself and said: “Oh sorry, no no no”.
The woman nodded her head and continued to hold on whilst I tried to pull it from her grip like some bizarre game of tug o’penis.
I said: “Oh no, thank you, I’m okay” and she replied, “It’s okay, no more cost... free”.
So there I was. Only two days into my new marriage and somehow locked in a one way haggle for a free handjob. All I could think of was that I’d gone and f*cked it all up already.
I quickly moved away from the woman, got up to put my clothes back on, paid for my massage and got the hell out of there. Who would have thought $20 would go so far?!
It’s safe to say I wasn’t off to a great start. I went back down to meet up with Sarah and come clean about my first accidental affair.
She was like: “What did you think would happen if you had no underwear on?”
Now when you go break it down like that it kinda looks worse than it is but on the surface, I had been violated. And no one told me I should keep my clothes on.
Luckily she saw the humour, but I haven’t been allowed to get a massage without her since...
