For years, TV veteran Tracy Grimshaw kept talks of a drunken mishap at the 1998 Logie Awards under wraps.
The A Current Affair anchor, who announced on Monday she's departing the show after 17 years as host, was locked out of her hotel naked after the awards show, with just a newspaper to protect her modesty.
The 62-year-old finally set the record straight 20 years after the mortifying incident, confirming the rumours were true.
For years, TV tycoon Tracy Grimshaw kept talks of a drunken mishap at the 1998 Logie Awards under wraps. The A Current Affair anchor, who announced on Monday she's departing the show after 17 years as host, was locked out of her hotel naked after the awards show
During a segment on The Today Show in 2018, the TV personality said it was 'all James Packer's fault' after the pair shared 'ten tequilas' at an after party at Crown Casino on the night.
'We had drunk Tequila. We had been doing Tequila. I like a Tequila. We had about ten and it was three in the morning,' she told Karl Stefanovic, Georgie Gardner and Silvia Jeffreys, who were on the breakfast TV panel.
Grimshaw went on to reveal that because she'd covered her naked body with a copy of The Australian newspaper and that the publication sent her a special commemorative plaque.
Grimshaw previously said it was 'all James Packer's fault' after the pair shared 'ten tequilas' at a Crown Casino after party on the night
'The Australian sent me the framed front cover of The Australian with a little plaque saying, "To Tracy, from The Australian, the newspaper that covers all your needs,"' she recalled.
'I've got it on the wall in my office, it's been with me since,' the TV presenter added.
Grimshaw gave even more details on 2DAY FM 's breakfast show at the time while promoting her 2018 Gold Logie nomination.
The journalist revealed that she'd raced back to her room from the Logies party in the early hours of the morning to get ready for work.
'The Australian sent me the framed front cover of The Australian with a little plaque saying, "To Tracy, from The Australian, the newspaper that covers all your needs,"' she recalled
'I got drunk because that's what everyone does at the Logies. And I raced back to my room at three o'clock in the morning thinking the girls from hair and make-up were about to walk in to get me ready to do the Today show,' she told the radio show.
'I pulled the dress off, ripped the jewellery off and raced in to have a shower before they arrived. I mistook the bathroom door for the front door. Suddenly I was naked out in the hallway,' she said.
Grimshaw said that she had boycotted the event's red carpet for a decade after being placed on a worst dressed list.
'For 10 years, I have snuck in through the kitchen at Melbourne 's Crown to avoid the red carpet,' the journalist told Kyle and Jackie O .

The dress mentioned is believed to be her purple frock worn at the 2009 Logies.
Grimshaw surprised viewers on Monday night by announcing she was stepping down as host of A Current Affair.
The respected journalist, widely considered one of Australia's greatest interviewers, has helmed the news program for an impressive 17 years.
She explained she was 'tired' after decades of shift work, and insisted she hadn't been pushed out by a 'boys' club' at Channel Nine.
'I've basically been a shift worker for 26 years, driving to work before dawn for nine years on the Today show, and the past 17 years driving home after dark here on A Current Affair and it's time for less of that daily obligation,' she said at the end of Monday night's show.

Grimshaw concluded: 'I'm around until November then I'm going to take a long holiday, but it's business as usual until then. See you tomorrow night.'
In January 2006, Tracy took over from Ray Martin as host of A Current Affair, her most well-known news role.
'She put me to shame,' Martin said. 'She's so good. I love what she does and I love watching her.'
A young Grimshaw started her career as a reporter in Nine's Melbourne newsroom in 1981.
The beloved television journalist celebrated 40 years at Channel Nine in October last year.
The journalist then began hosting National Nine News from 1995 until 2005

Police are hunting for the men who kidnapped a mom and her one-year-old from outside a target in a brazen midday robbery in Memphis - just days before a billionaire heiress was snatched off the same city's streets.
According to a Facebook post by the Memphis Police Department, the mom was putting groceries into her car outside the Target store when she and her child were hijacked on August 31.
She and her one-year-old were forced into a car after being threatened by the men, who were brandishing a handgun and demanding cash.
According to WREG-TV, one of the suspects sat in the front seat with the mom while the other sat in the back with her child.
They made the mom withdraw $800 from an ATM at Regions Bank half a mile down highway 64.
The terrifying ordeal was then over, as they released the mom and child afterwards, handing her back her card and dropping them off at the same Target where they were abducted. She then went inside to tell a staff member what had happened.

Officers have now released CCTV images of the suspects, who they are hunting, as they walked around a Walmart store before they kidnapped the mom and child.
They have also shared photographs of the car that the two men were driving.
Crime Stoppers of Memphis and Shirley County Inc. are offering a cash reward of up to $2,000 to anyone who knows where the suspects are.

The worrying incident came days before billionaire heiress Eliza Fletcher was taken off the streets of the same city.
Fletcher, 34, is still missing, after she was snatched while on her daily 4am run near the University of Memphis on Friday morning.
She was last seen at 4.20am jogging in Central Avenue and Zach Curlin Street.
After a brief struggle with 38-year-old Cleotha Abston, the car then drove off, traveling westbound on Central Avenue.
Officers have charged Abston with especially aggravated kidnapping and tampering with evidence following Fletcher's disappearance.
He had stalked the 34-year-old on her 4am jog, and waited for her to run past him before grabbing her.

Court records show Abston, 38, is a previously convicted kidnapper: he pleaded guilty to especially aggravated kidnapping and robbery in 2001.
Tennessee authorities obtained surveillance footage of Friday's kidnapping, which allegedly showed Abston running 'aggressively toward the victim, and then force the victim Eliza Fletcher into the passenger's side of the vehicle,' the documents said.
'During the abduction, there appeared to be a struggle,' according to the affidavit, which cited 'noticeable damage to the back-passenger taillight area' of the GMC Terrain.
Police said after Fletcher — who is still missing — was forced into the black SUV, 'the vehicle then sat in the parking lot with the victim inside for approximately four minutes before it drove off.'
One neighbor told DailyMail.com exclusively that Abston had routinely offered women $100 for sex and stalked others while hanging around the apartment complex where his brother lived.
His arrest comes just over two years after his release from prison on kidnapping charge. Abston served 20 years for the kidnapping and robbery of lawyer Kemper Durand in Memphis in May 2000.
At around 2am May 25, 2000, Abston approached Kemper Durand from behind on Beale Street in Memphis then robbed him and forced him into the trunk of his car, according to the Memphis Flyer.
Abston then drove Durand around for several hours, then forced him into an ATM and demanded he draw out cash. While in the ATM Durand spotted a housing authority officer and yelled for help, causing Abston to flee.
He was convicted for that kidnapping and released from prison in July of 2020, according to Tennessee Department of Corrections.
Kemper Durand passed away in February 2013 at the age of 73.
In a tribute article that was published in the Commercial Appeal, a friend was quoted as saying that Durand would regularly joke about his kidnapping ordeal.
That friend also said that Durand argued for leniency for Abston and his 12-year-old accomplice. Durand later said that he did not want to 'wallow in' the fear he suffered.
Officers have charged Abston, pictured, with especially aggravated kidnapping and tampering with evidence following Fletcher's disappearance
In addition to surveillance footage which showed the entirety of the 'violent' abduction in which Fletcher was forced into a black SUV with a broken taillight, an affidavit showed cops identified Abston as the kidnapper by a pair of sandals he left behind at the scene.
Abston lost the sandals - a pair of Champion brand slides - in his struggle to force Fletcher into the car, and authorities were able to recover his DNA found on them to him.
Investigators also determined Abston's cell was in the vicinity of the kidnapping at the time Fletcher was taken. The affidavit described an interview with a woman who said Abston's behavior in the hours after the abduction was 'odd.'
The woman said Abston was in a 'strange mood' and that she saw him frantically cleaning the interior of his car with carpet cleaner and washing his clothes in his home's sink.
Abston still has not said where Fletcher, pictured, is or what he did to her. The affidavit said evidence, including blood, found in Abston's car led them to believe Fletcher suffered a 'serious injury'
Authorities went to Abston's last known address and found the same black SUV with the damaged taillight. The affidavit said Abston was standing in the doorway when police arrived and that he began to flee, but was soon apprehended.
Abston still has not said where Fletcher is or what he did to her. The affidavit said evidence, including blood, found in Abston's car led them to believe Fletcher suffered a 'serious injury.'
'The investigation into the abduction of Eliza Fletcher is still active and ongoing. Investigators are continuing the search and following all leads,' police said in a statement on Sunday after announcing Abston's arrest.
Police were also seen searching dumpsters outside of a McDonald's restaurant in Memphis on Saturday evening as they searched for the kindergarten teacher and mother.
