every new mom deserves to feel confident, cared for, and connected. We provide the tools and support you need to overcome the challenges of the newborn phase and flourish in the fourth trimester and beyond.
The New Mom School Newborn Class; a 10-week program organized by baby’s birth month to provide you with support, education and community through the fourth trimester and beyond.
After having my first son in early 2011, I instantly became obsessed with everything baby! I joined a Mommy and Me group in Los Angeles where I met 11 other amazing women whose babies were born within weeks of my son. I had no idea the positive impact this group would have on all of us nor did I ever think that the women would become some of my best friends. I didn’t know it at the time, but this group would change my life.
I was born and raised in Los Angeles where I received a BA in Psychology from California State University, Northridge. I went on to be the Director of Operations of a real estate law firm and real estate development company in Los Angeles for over 10 years. After my son was born, I pursued my passion in child development and became a Certified Parent Educator and a Certified Newborn/Infant Care Specialist. As he entered the “terrible two’s” I found myself drawn to the Positive Discipline curriculum and have since become a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator through the Positive Discipline Association. I am now mom to two beautiful boys who enrich my life and have made me a better person and educator.
In early 2012, my husband was relocated to Orange County for work. The move happened suddenly which gave me the unexpected opportunity to move on to the next chapter in my life. Though I wasn’t sure what would come next, I was excited to experience the new journey. While searching for groups to join with my son during our transitional period, I researched and discovered many groups which offered activities for children, but wasn’t able to find supportive and educational groups for the moms, similar to the one I had belonged to. So it became clear what my next chapter would be. I combined my passion of bringing people together with my love of being a mom to create this program so that other moms could have the same life-changing experience that I had. And so I “gave birth” to a labor of love… OC Mommy and Me.
In 2016 after 4 years of classes and meeting over 1,000 of the most wonderful new moms and babies, we decided that we had become much more than your average mommy and me program. Our team had expanded tremendously and the topics in our classes now included such a variety of important and crucial information for new moms today. I decided that we needed a new name to describe what we really had become…a school for new moms. And so, a new chapter began as The New Mom School. I am so glad you are here and considering us to be a part of your journey. We would be honored to accompany you along the way!
Our classes are a judgment-free zone where the mommy wars are left at the door and moms support and empower one another regardless of their parenting style. Whether you use disposable or cloth diapers, breastfeed or formula feed, co-sleep or work full time, your class will become your lifeline."
Enroll using your due date so we can reserve a class spot for you alongside other new moms whose babies are born the same month.
Let us know when your baby arrives and we’ll give you a start date for your first class, usually around 3-5 weeks postpartum.
Join us at our Newport Beach studio and meet your expert instructor and fellow moms experiencing the same phase of motherhood.
Research shows that as many as 1 in 5 new mothers experience some type of perinatal mood and anxiety disorder, while 7 in 10 women hide or downplay their symptoms.
I recommend The New Mom School to all of my pregnant patients. Whether you are on your first pregnancy journey or adding a new baby to the family, at New Mom School you will learn skills and get support through one of life’s most challenging transitions.
The transition into being a new mom is joyous but can be tremendously overwhelming and isolating. A new mom’s health and emotional state impacts her newborn’s health and having the right support following a child’s birth is essential for any new mom. I recommend The New Mom School to every new mother.
The postnatal period is delicate and many new mothers aren’t able to obtain the support they need following the birth of their baby. The repercussions of this lack of support can have a negative effect on mom and baby. The New Mom School provides this much-needed service that medical professionals aren’t able to. I recommend this community to all new mothers.
The New Mom School provides an unparalleled environment of friendship, encouragement and education, so new moms can bond with one another as well as their new babies. I absolutely recommend The New Mom School to any new mom – you need a community to not only share in the joys of motherhood but also support you through the inevitable challenges!
Our 10-week, OB-recommended Newborn Class is designed to provide answers to all the questions that you encounter in the first 3 months of motherhood—even the questions you never knew you’d have! We encourage you to use your due date to register while pregnant so we can secure your space in class for once baby arrives.
An 8-week class for moms and babies 3-6 months old covering an array of topics developmentally appropriate for this age range. Moms are encouraged to register for this class as a continuation of their newborn class or on its own if you weren’t able to attend the newborn class.
The fun continues, Playgroups style! Come join us each week in our new learning playroom where all the magic happens! A more casual, informal version of our infant classes, our playgroups are a place to learn and grow– for both babies and parents!
Structured by age group, each week allows your child to explore and grow through play with others close in age. The best part: while your babies and toddlers are exploring and discovering the classroom with their peers, you get to meet and socialize with other moms in the same phase of motherhood! Great for babies; Great for mamas!
Each week, sit back, relax and watch your littles deep dive into play with purposeful, developmentally appropriate activities while your experienced instructor leads discussion and learning about curriculum topics. Your leader will help guide you and your children as they grow from infants to toddlers. All of our topics are based on all your most pressing baby and toddler questions!
This 8-week class series meets once per week and includes an incredible amount of education and so many tools to help you connect with your child so you can continue to build the joyful and trusting relationship you always hoped for. And for some of you, you just want to know how to make the tantrums stop and have a more agreeable and flexible child so you can have a happier home.
The birth of your second child isn’t quite like the birth of your first. You have so much more confidence in the newborn phase yet it doesn’t come without its challenges.
Our Second Time Moms class covers an array of topics to help support you, your older child, and your new baby through the transition. Come learn, laugh, and connect with other moms who are sharing the same experience. This class is just for mom and the new baby!

░░░░░CUTE BOOK TO MAKE YOU APPRECIATE MOM░░░░░ This book was cute. We got it from the library. It's about how moms learn to be moms by going to school and taking "Feed your kids vegetables" class and various other things moms do. It could easily be written as "Parent school" rather than just mom school because most of the book are things that both moms and dads do. But it works. It's basically just a list of things moms do. My daughter enjoyed it and we had a good time talking about what a real mom school would be like.

Rebecca Van Slyke tickles our imaginations with a unique twist; mothers attending a Mom School to learn parenting skills. Told from the viewpoint of a preschool or kindergarten-aged child, this book will remind your child to appreciate all the special things mothers do for their kids. It’s a great book for beginning readers as the sentences are short, the words are simple and there aren’t too many on a page. The colorful illustrations of moms and their children having fun caring for each other are terrific.

Received this book for mother’s day from my son’s sitter. Such a sweet story about how moms went to school to learn how to do all the amazing mom things. I love it and both my kids love it.

Review by Kelli and Kaitlyn (my 4 year old daughter) Kaitlyn and I loved this sweet story! It's narrated by a little girl, who talks about the things she likes about pre-school. She reflects on the fact that her mom knows how to do all kinds of things. The little girl decides that her mom must have gone to Mom School, to learn how to be a great mom. Mom School is full of beautiful illustrations. Priscilla Burris did a wonderful job with the pictures. They were Kaitlyn's favorite aspect of the story. I loved the sweet and concise prose. The story flowed well and easily. There was a bit of humor and the book ended on a really tender note. Mom School is a great read. It would be a perfect Mother's Day gift!

Lovely message Enjoyed reading to young ones They loved it

I got this book from the library. I want to like it, but it makes it seem like women are stupid. I love the cute little things about mom life that it mentions, but it would be nice if the moms at mom schools also learned more intellectual material (math? science? literature?) instead of what a typical 50s housewife would do (cupcakes, brushing hair, etc.). Women today do a lot more than what this book mentions and after reading this to my 2 year old son, we further discussed what other subjects moms learn about.
