THE mom of two kids found hanged from a dog leash in the basement of their home has been charged with their murders.
Lisa Snyder, 36, stands accused of having sex with her dog in the weeks before killing eight-year-old Conner and his four-year-old sister Brinley.
Police say the mum staged the deaths of her kids at their home in Albany Township, Pennsylvania, to look like suicide.
On the day they were found hanging, Snyder called 911 and claimed her "bullied" son "had made threats of doing this but didn't want to go alone”.
The siblings died in hospital three days after they were found unresponsive and hanging from the same dog leash, reports claim.
The cord was wrapped around the main support beam of the basement and two chairs were overturned nearby, according to the reports.
Snyder allegedly picked up the dog leash from a nearby Walmart on the day of the hangings, Berks County District Attorney John Adams said.
Police allegedly found three sexually explicit photos of Snyder engaging in various sex acts with a black and white dog in the weeks before her kids' death, according to the affidavit.
Snyder told cops she owned the dog, which was a black pit bull mixed dog weighing 50 pounds, but she said she had given the dog away.
She has been charged with first and third-degree murder, child endangerment and evidence-tampering in the deaths.
In addition to this, Snyder has been charged with animal cruelty, including intercourse with an animal.
Police said Snyder was linked to internet searches for episodes of a documentary series on crime called I Almost Got Away With It.
The day before the bodies were found the account was used to search methods of hanging, authorities said.
On the day the bodies were found, a search was made on whether an idling hybrid car would produce carbon monoxide, authorities said.
Lehigh County Coroner's office said Monday that both children were killed by hanging and ruled the deaths homicides.
Snyder has claimed the children killed themselves, but Mr Adams said authorities were suspicious about the case from the beginning.
“Eight-year-olds, generally, that I am aware of, do not commit suicide, so of course we had questions,” Mr Adams said.
Snyder had claimed the boy was bullied, but authorities said there was no evidence of that.
They said the boy showed no sign of distress on bus security video on the day the children were found.
"To have two children taken at such a young age, and what appears to be two very innocent young children, it's just not right," Mr Adams said.
Snyder remains in custody without bond; she said nothing to reporters as she was escorted from a state police barracks.

A Nebraska jury found a 38-year-old mom guilty Wednesday of sexually assaulting her daughter’s young friends after grooming them at booze-infused overnight parties.
Christina Greer, 38, allowed her 11-year-old to host sleepovers involving a half-dozen children, including the victims: two boys aged 12 and 13.
She was found guilty of three counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child, six counts of felony child abuse and two counts of witness tampering Wednesday. She was cleared of two other charges. Jurors spent three hours deliberating, according to Sarpy County prosecutors.
Between 2017 and 2018, Greer let the kids drink alcohol, consume marijuana-laced snacks and play drinking games, according to the Sarpy County District Attorney’s Office.
And then she had sex with the boys. 
Deputy Sarpy County Attorney Philip K. Kleine said that Greer’s daughter testified that she heard her mother and one of the boys in her bedroom and they were kissing.
And a teenage witness testified Greer’s daughter had said the boy was having sex with her mom at the time, Kleine said.
Then, when she became aware of a law enforcement investigation, Greer told the children to delete any evidence from their phones, according to prosecutors.
But investigators found explicit images of the mom on one victim's phone.
"We’re immensely pleased [with the verdict]," he said. "It’s been three years, a harrowing experience for the families, for the victims. It’s been a roller coaster of emotions. Just immensely proud of the victims in this case to be able to stay on course and still testify."
Greer's daughter also gave damning evidence to prosecutors in 2019, local media reported at the time.
Greer’s daughter said during a pretrial hearing that her mom had taken her to Walmart to buy margarita mix for one of the sleepovers and that she had poured drinks for the children, according to Kearny Hub, a local news outlet.
Greer faces a maximum of life in prison and a mandatory minimum of 45 years when she faces sentencing on April 19.
