Mom is a 2017 crime and thriller Bollywood movie and The film stars Sridevi , Nawazuddin Siddiqui , Akshaye Khanna , Sajal Ali , Adnan Siddiqui have played the lead roles in this movie. A Biology teacher Devki( Sridevi) who is very popular amongst her student and loved by all the students, is a stepmother of Arya (Sajjal Ali) and wife of Anand (Adnan Siddiqui). Once Mohit sent Arya an offensive video and after watching it Devki throws the phone out of the window in anger. Devki is very polite and motherly towards Arya but she never accepted her as a mother and their relationship is always strained. On Valentine Day Arya was invited to a part at farmhouse and Devki unwillingly grants her permission. At the farmhouse, Mohit purposes Arya and Rya rejected her proposal which makes Mohit very annoyed and angry and he feels humiliate the public rejection.
When Arya is leaving from the party, the enraged Mohit with his friends Charles, Jagan and the watchman attacks on Arya and drag her to the isolation and gang-raped her brutally and dumbed the half-dead Arya in the drainage. She is hardly alive and breathing and in this condition, she is brought to the hospital. where doctors declared her very critical. She has to undergo several surgeries. Here Anand and Devki are completely shattered with the incident. But gradually Arya recovers and she recognizes her rapist and names them.
Police Inspector Matthew (Akshay Khanna ) immediately rushed to the criminals but the case falls apart when he founds that Arya was drunk at that night and this builds an argument that memories are unreliable and her body samples are also recovered very late. And as a result, the judges freed four attackers due to lack of evidence and Devki lost faith in the judiciary. When Arya comes to know about this she shattered and Devki feels that she lost Arya forever.
Devki remembers the detective DK (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) she met on the night of Arya’s rape. She contacted her and asks him to help her. DK who is also a father of a girl understands her pain and agrees to help her. So with the help of her students first she targets the watchman, few transgender people seduced the watchman and take him to with them and after four days when he wakes up, he finds himself castrated. Her next target is Charles, she Mixed Apple seed powder which is a source of cyanide in his protein powder and Charles got paralyzed after drinking that.
To see Charles Mohit visits hospital. Meanwhile DK tells Devki to plant the evidence of apple seeds in Mohit’s house and she did it and as a result police arrest Mohit. As Devkim is taking down all the culprits it’s become the news and Arya is shocked to see all this and in the notion that her father is doing all this for her.

Hence he tells Devki that the fourth criminal Jagan is very dangerous and he could harm her and her family. Here Jagan comes to know that it’s Devki behind all this and he finds that she is on holiday meanwhile he kills DK and approaches Devki to snow cottage. Matthew finds a hidden camera in Devki’s glass and rushes to save her from Jagan.
Jagan reached snow cottage and interrupt the power supply, take out his gun and shoots Anand in this hustle Arya runs and hid in snow and Devki runs behind her to save her. As Jagan is about to kill Devki, Matthew intercepts and handles Jagan and Devki tries to shoot him but Matthew stops him by telling her that Anand is alive and is getting treatment in hospital and is she kills Jagan she will go to jail then Devki put down her gun but Devki convinced Matthew that if Jagan remain alive she will gain trouble them this time Matthew gives her and tells her to shoot him. Arya who realizes now that it is her mom who is doing all this for her she calls her mother and hugs her.
Directed by Ravi Udayvar and produced by Boney Kapoor, Gautam Jain, and Naresh Agarwal Mom is a crime thriller movie. The Story is loosely based on the recent rape events. The story revolves around a Daughter and her Step Mother, where the daughter doesn’t accept her motherly love and calls her Mam. The issue is about this Girl who calls her mom, Mam. The movie plot is inauthentic yet surprising. A bit technically shady movie but thrilling. Sri Devi has been flawless throughout the movie.
She performed a very clever mom’s role as she was playing the role of a teacher and a very educated one. That’s why she was clever and smart.. That’s why women education is seriously needed in India and do not kill girl child, educate them.. Give proper lessons to them. Respect them in every way. Very good character development in the movie. A very unique and researched direction. Loved Nawaz’s performance. Akshay Khanna delivered an expected performance. His role in the movie Dhishoom was a nice catch too. He should do more movies. A great watch. Thanks to “Team Mom” for this entertaining movie.
Sridevi a legend has no doubts perform superbly who fights for the justice for her stepdaughter and eventually wins the love of her daughter. She acted so naturally in the movie that everyone gonna love her character for sure.
Sajjal Ali, the Pakistani beauty makes her Bollywood debut with this movie hence she is already famous Pakistan as well as India for her television dramas in Pakistan. She acted brilliantly as Arya and makes her character worth watch.
