On 1 April 2016, the domain badcriminals.com (under the brand of TmzWorldstar.com ) published an article reporting that an unnamed mother had admitted on Facebook to maintaining an affair with and becoming pregnant by her 15-year-old son:
A mother posted a status on Facebook saying she is having relations with her 15 Year old son and they also have a child together.
“For those who don’t know, me and my 15 year old son had a baby last year together. I had sex with him when he was 14 years old. The baby came out fine. Just to let you know, I also have three (3) daughters who are thirteen (13), fourteen (14), and sixteen (16).
My son is a great dad and also a great boyfriend to me. This all started when I realized that I started to get feelings for him I decided to have a one and one talk with him. I told him “mommy loves you more than what it means to just be a mommy to you”. I also told him that “mommy likes you just like how a girl from school likes you.
The claim was duplicated by similar outlets (such as Daily Media Buzz ), but there was no truth to any version of the story. Both TmzWorldstar.com and Daily Media Buzz are fake news sites known for publishing shocking, fabricated tales intended to lure site visitors via social media. The individuals depicted in the accompanying photographs were not identified, but the pictures were likely taken from a random social media account without permission.
TmzWorldstar.com ‘s prior viral hoaxes include a claim that a then-recent Powerball lottery winner died of a cocaine overdose ; the site also swiped other fake news outlets’ fabrications about a man marrying a baby and Jaden Smith planning a penectomy for his 18th birthday. Daily Media Buzz maintained the same habit of copying extant fake news items including claims an obese woman starved her seven children, Powerball lottery winners Lisa and John Robinson were giving money away to Facebook users, a badly mutilated baby was discovered in a dumpster following a botched abortion , and a Gabourey Sidibe death hoax. Neither site appeared to host a disclaimer marking content as fake news , but both carried falsified claims that appeared on myriad similar sites.

Kathleen Martin, from County Durham, says her two other children get on well with her partner Jack - despite there only being five years between him and her eldest
A MUM has told how she fell pregnant by her 16-year-old toyboy lover, who is almost half her age, after meeting him on Facebook - and they're now a "happy family".
Kathleen Martin, now 32, from County Durham, began chatting to teenager Jack Fucile, now 18, on the social media site in June 2015 after he offered to help sort out her garden.
After seven months together, Kathleen discovered she was pregnant - and Jack ended up delivering their baby in the bedroom when she went into labour three-and-a-half weeks early.
Now their son, Jay, is nine months old, and despite the fact Kathleen already has two children from previous relationships, with only five years between Jack and her eldest, she said they all get along "really well".
She explained: "We are just one big family now and it's really lovely.
"When Jay gets older we will tell him how his daddy brought him into the world - and tell him what a good job he did."
Kathleen admitted she did have reservations about dating Jack, who is 14 years younger than her and had only just left school when they met.
She told how Jack's mum Angela, who is eight years older than her, was "shocked" when she heard about their relationship.
But Kathleen said it didn't feel like there was an age gap between her and Jack, who now works as a car valeter.
She explained: "Jack is really mature for his age. Despite the age difference, we got on really well."
When she told Jack she was expecting, Kathleen said he was thrilled.
"Once he got over the shock, he loved the fact that he was going to be a dad," she recalled.
"My pregnancy progressed smoothly, and Jack was really overwhelmed when he saw the 20-week scan.
"He was so excited, he just couldn’t wait for the baby to arrive."
Kathleen told how she began experiencing early labour pains last August and the couple set off to Sunderland Royal Infirmary.
She recalled: "When they saw me there, they told me the baby wasn’t coming yet and to go back and wait for more contractions.
"I kept going backwards and forwards to the hospital over the next few days.
"I went five times and each time I was sent home because they said I was not ready to give birth yet.
"But I could feel the baby was on its way - I’d given birth to two children already, so I certainly knew what it felt like!"
After the fifth trip to the hospital, Kathleen told how she and Jack were getting ready for bed when her waters suddenly broke.
She said: "I was screaming with the pain while Jack rang the hospital, and they started to tell him what to do to help me give birth over the phone.
"He managed to get my pyjama bottoms off, and already he could see the baby’s head.
"Jack just went into auto pilot as he listened to instructions from the hospital staff and he guided the baby out and into his arms.
"It was literally all over in five minutes, and then the signal went on Jack’s mobile, cutting him off from the hospital."
Kathleen recalled how the baby looked worryingly blue, as if he wasn’t getting enough oxygen.
"Jack quickly sprang into action. He wrapped towels around the baby and started rubbing his body," she said.
"After a few minutes, he had turned a much more healthy pink colour and started to cry, which was such a relief.
"I was crying with the emotion of it all. Jack had been so fantastic. Even though he is only 18, he got down to it and delivered our baby without a hitch.
"Some men faint when they are in the hospital delivery room without even having to do anything!"
The couple took baby Jay, who weighed 6lb, to hospital for a check-up and he was given a clean bill of health.
Kathleen said her children, aged 13 and five, were "thrilled" to meet their baby brother and "love him to bits".
She added that Jack is now very much a hands-on dad.
"While other lads his age are hanging out with mates and drinking, Jack is here being a great father to baby Jay," she said.
"He doesn’t get squeamish when he changes a nappy and he’s great at bottle feeding him too.
"All our family and friends were amazed that Jack had delivered our baby. I still can’t believe it even now.
"When I look at him I just marvel about what he did."
Jack admitted: "It was a real shock when Kathleen started giving birth in the bedroom.
"It was all pretty surreal. None of my mates have delivered their own babies.
"I was in shock for a while afterwards, but I’m proud of myself for doing it."
Last month we told how a mum-of-four, 39, fell pregnant two months into dating her toyboy lover , 24, and was cruelly dubbed a "4 x 4" and "dole bludger" after they split.

In a bizarre case, a Domboshava man and his biological mother are reportedly on the run after having an incestuous relationship that culminated in two pregnancies. Simon Matsvara and Ethel Vhangare are from Pote Village under Chief Chinamhora.
Simon first impregnated his mother while his father Agripah Matsvara was alive and for the second time after his death. It is alleged that the first time Simon impregnated his mother, she had a miscarriage. However, this time Vhangare is alleged to be five months pregnant and Simon is responsible.
The pair reportedly fled the community recently after getting news that Chief Chinamhora, Simon Chidziva, had sent his aides to arrest them. It is alleged that Vhangare’s husband, Agripah, suffered a stroke in 2008 and relatives reportedly assigned Simon to assist his mother take care of the father.
Later in the same year, it is alleged Vhangare started vomiting and revealed to a neighbour that she was pregnant and her son was responsible. Family elders reportedly resolved the matter before fining the pair an undisclosed number of cattle. Two months later, Vhangare suffered a miscarriage before her husband’s death in 2008.
Simon and his mother reportedly continued with their relationship that resulted in another pregnancy. The matter came to light after Vhangare absconded church services, prompted churchmates to pay her a visit.
It was then discovered that Vhangare was pregnant again and neighbours reported the matter to Chief Chinamhora who sent his aides to arrest the two. “We are going to hunt for the two and we will punish them severely to send a clear message to would-be offenders that we do not tolerate such acts,” the chief said yesterday.
In a related incident, another pair from Mutonda village under Chief Chinamhora, was fined three beasts after siring two children in an incestuous relationship. A 26-year-old man and his niece (22) reportedly cohabited as husband and wife since 2007. They bore two children now aged four and one.
The matter came to light after the man’s uncle filed a complaint upon realising that his sister’s son had paid a bride price for his daughter to his brother-in-law. In passing sentence, Chief Chinamhora ordered the man to pay two heads of cattle before relocating permanently to his paternal homestead in Rusape.
The woman was ordered to pay a cow.
“Children are lacking guidance, especially in divorced families. Divorced parents need to set aside their difference for the benefit of their children. We are Africans and our culture is being eroded. Parents must unite and send children to holidays such that they are in touch with their relatives and respect each other’s totems,” he said.
