A 13-year-old girl took a huge risk when she chose to run for help to save her mom from a burglar.
Naydelyn Castillo-Nunez of Lukeville, Arizon,a heard an unfamiliar male voice and commotion coming from her mother's bedroom one day last January. Her mother had just narrowly avoided being stabbed by the intruder, who demanded that she show him where the valuables in the house were. Meanwhile, he bound her mother's hands and feet and gagged her.
When he asked her to get a valuable in another room, the girl, then 12 years old, made a split-second decision and ran to a neighbor's house for help. There, she was able to call the police.
The intruder realized that she had called the police, and promptly ran. He was later apprehended by customs agents at the Lukeville Point of Entry. When Naydelyn and her mother later positively identified the man, he was handed over to the police.
Luckily both mother and daughter are safe, and the perpetrator has been caught! Naydelyn is now being called a hero by her mom and the Pima County Sheriff's Department!
