Tina Fey suffered a brief but obvious nipple slip at the 2013 Emmy Awards, sparking an onslaught of Twitter commentary at the acclaimed actress’ expense.
If you blinked, or aren’t an eagle-eyed viewer whose goal in life is to see celebrity nipples on screen, you probably missed the wardrobe malfunction.
Some might even say it was one of the more exciting or at least interesting things that happened during a broadcast derided by critics as bland.
In any case, when the comedian took the stage with Tracey Wigfield to accept their award for Best Comedy Writing, she flashed more than her trophy.
At least she of all people can take a joke. See the Tina Fey nipple slip and some of the notable reactions to this unexpected viral event after the jump:
Many dubbed Lena Dunham worst dressed at the event. But at least she won’t be labeled least dressed, are we right? Yes. That (dis)honor is all Tina’s.
It lit up Twitter like no other event that night. While we’re not talking Miley Cyrus levels of buzz here, but for the Emmys, this was a significant deal.
Fey fans weren’t shy about sharing their thoughts on this television event, and most of them seemed pretty excited about the experience. Take a look:

What was the hottest trend on Emmys red carpet? No, not shimmery metallics or retro pony tails, courtesy of Jane Fonda, but an eyeful of celebrity cleavage in various shapes and creative modes of display.
Breasts were pushed up and spilling out of designer gowns, courtesy of Padma Lakshmi and Sofia Vergara. But you could also see female stars flashing their feminine assets via extreme plunging necklines. We’re looking at you Shailene Woodley, Heidi Klum, Gina Rodriguez and Anika Noni Rose.
It was obvious that stylists for female stars had employed lots of double-sided tape to possibly prevent any embarrassing wardrobe malfunctions.
Not spotted as of the end of Sunday night’s red carpet walk were this year’s other popular modes of breast display: the sideboob, the underboob and the ever so playful nip slip — but the night was young. Rodriguez looked as though she was risking the nip slip as she came on stage to present an award.
Even witty, sparky feminist Samantha Bee, known on her TBS news commentary show “Full Frontal” for her breezy-business casual attire and impressive collection of power blazers, got into the breast trend with her cleavage pushed up into a form-fitting green gown.
Of course, creative displays of cleavage have become quite the red carpet trend over the past year or so, going back notably to Olivia Wilde’s widely divisive Valentino Haute Couture gown at the 2016 Oscars.
