Mojang Rolls out Player Chat Reporting In Minecraft Java

Minecraft Java Edition 1.19.1 is out now and it comes with some controversial changes that many players are not particularly satisfied with.

The first major change is the addition of player reporting, in the event that they send abusive message in chat game. You can report specific servers and choose multiple messages to include and add comments. Mojang / Microsoft moderators then will review the reports and decide on actions. This applies to all servers including private servers. Another feature of text chat is that it links with it. Another Forum It will add an annotation to the chat for every message that is not sent, or when it is modified by the server.

Mojang claims that people won't be banned for swearing however, it's more focused on "hate speech" and harassment, bullying, sexual solicitation or making real threats to other players". If you're banned, it won't affect playing single-player.

Naturally, there are mods to get around this like the No Chat Reports mod that claims to strip out the signatures associated with chat messages which makes them "impossible to trace and link the chat messages you send to Minecraft and, by extension, Microsoft account".

In case you missed it, Mojang also recently said no to blockchain and NFTs in Minecraft.
