Legendary ero-artist Mogudan has come out with an announcement saying he will no longer be drawing pornographic images of his beloved Rei Ayanami from Neon Genesis Evangelion due to the new guidelines regarding fan art released by Studio Khara.
The translation of Mogudan’s message to his supporting fans:
“I have become unable to continue drawing pictures of [Rei] Ayanami,” says Mogudan, speaking through an illustration of One Punch Man’s Tatsumaki. “Going forward, I will not be making any illustrations of her, even on fan sites. Thank you for all of your support over the years. In the future, I will be drawing art of other characters.”
Studio Khara’s new guidelines regarding fan-created content state said content cannot be overly grotesque or violent, infringe the rights of others, be pornographic in any way, or have the potential to be mistaken for official work.
Mogudan has been drawing Rei for over 20 years ever since her inception. His contribution to the perverse side of Evangelion fan art will be gravely missed by many.
