[Paid Contract] Remote Casual/Hybrid-Casual Level Designer
Project Overview: We are looking for an experienced, data-driven Freelance Level Designer to design, balance, and optimize a series of levels for a hybrid-casual puzzle mobile title. This is a fully remote, milestone-based contract loop.
We are NOT looking for environment artists or narrative world-builders. We need a systems-minded designer who understands pacing, retention psychology, and how to manipulate game space (board layouts, piece distributions, difficulty spikes) to keep players engaged and driving toward strong monetization/retention metrics.
What You’ll Do:
* Design and block out high-quality casual progression levels (puzzle/merge/sorting style dynamics).
* Map out clear, intentional difficulty curves, balancing "feel-good" win streaks with tight, monetization-friendly "near-miss" scenarios.
* Utilize spreadsheets/data models to mathematically balance mechanics, drop rates, and move counts before implementation.
* Iterate on levels based on simulation data, playtest feedback, and player drop-off metrics.
Requirements:
* Proven track record: Shipped levels in the mobile casual space (Match-3, Merge, Tile-Sorting, or Hybrid-Casual).
* Spreadsheet proficiency: You build, read, and balance via Excel/Google Sheets, not just by "feeling" things out in an editor.
* Engine experience: Comfortable integrating configurations directly into Unity (or custom level editors via JSON/spreadsheets).
* Psychology focused: Deep understanding of casual player frustration thresholds and live-ops content cadence.
* Fluent in English written and spoken
To Apply: Please send a link to your portfolio or CV.
Please include or walk us through a brief example of how you mathematically balance a level curve or structure a difficulty matrix.
