It is a cute german violin, but there are so many of them out there that value is low. In this range it is all about sound. If you like it, and it sounds and plays like you want it to, it is not a bad buy. I would also prefer a y old german to a new chinese, as long as we are talking about ebay-violins in this price range. I bought a violin on eBay at euros and I'm not really sure the purchasing was wise. Buying rubbish on ebay is foolish, and it kind of serves you right P:S: I hope everybody is satisfied now. To get it into a halfway playable condition you'll have to invest 2, 3 or 4 times the sum you paid for it without shipping, taxes, custom fees etc. After all you'll have an instrument of a very low grade of trade violin, Dutzendarbeit or whatever names were given to it here. If you paid already, you can contact the seller and try to explain that you did change your mind and kindly ask for cancellation. If you didn't, you should contact the seller and tell him the same thing also kindly. If he is reasonable one, he can cancel the transaction. If he insists on payment, you can forget the payment and get the appropriate prize from eBay. Yes, it cant hurt to ask, there is reasonable chance you'll get off the hook. Or you can just keep it and hang it up in your room as reminder. I have to admit that I have a couple of those. Don't we all. The more I look at this, we've seen far worse Ebay buys. It at least looks like it could be made into a playable instrument and probably doesn't need any repairs to the body or pegbox. I thought that this violin is be better than the Chinese violin at euros and saw that he was no cracks - but the fingerboard detached from the violin, he will have a new bridge and new sound post, also new strings and has already arrived to more than euros after the set up,I want to know what do you think- the usual junk as saying 'Jacobsaunders'? He has no instruments for sale - he just doing repairs and making set-up for strings Instruments. I'll have to miss work and go specifically to Holon. I can not send him in whatsapp because is not holding a smartphone, he did not even know what is a smartphone I thought to get help here but if this is not possible I will go to him and show him. Since Mittenwald makers fluted the scroll through to the 'bitter end', and this one stops short, I have doubts if this Instrument hails from Mittenwald. In particular the attribution to Ashauer, who was director of the Geigenbaushule seems bogus, since this small detail would have sent him into a fit. How important is that to you? Looks like its decent enough and reasonably priced. Of course we're talking Ebay, there are almost an infinite number of potential issues and hidden problems. Mittenwald or not, I believe it looks german from that time frame. As far as can be judged from the pictures, to me it looks like a well made cello, and I think the Price is good for this kind of cello, but not spectacularly so. I work as a cello teacher in Germany and usually have one or two students looking for Cellos in this Price category. Sometimes such Cellos can sound surprisingly good. I actually find it quite attractive, however, I would never ever buy before trying. Well Mittenwald and Saxony are two entirely distinct schools of making which are only connected through the historical accident of both being in what we now call 'Germany'. I'm curious to know, what is it exactly that you mean that the scroll ends at a certain clock position? What is it that we are looking at exactly?
