[on how she got in the porn business] I was molested by my father, who is now deceased. That experience definitely messed up my mind. From that I went into the falling path of being a porn star. You start with being with a pimp to being a stripper. And after the dancing I went into the porn business. At first it was only for money, but now I feel like this is where I belong, because I am controlling my own destiny. I love being on camera . . . I'm a total attention whore. It's a screwed-up situation how I got here, but I'm now very happy where I am.
[on pay for actresses in the porn industry] The bottom is getting $300 a scene. Whereas now I'm getting $1,300 a scene. It took a while for me to get that. And there are African-American girls now who will never reach that goal. They will always get $600 or $700. That's just the way it is. I think my publicist, James Bartholet , had a lot to do with [getting me better pay]. Having someone who can market you is a big deal.

These jaw-dropping pictures of Misty definitely show Ash what he's missing.
Who doesn’t love Misty, the Cerulean Gym Leader extraordinaire? Ash, that's who! But while the silly boy from Pallet Town seems to ignore the beauty beside him, the fans have certainly noticed. And they've shown their love for Misty with tons of amazing fan art. Some of it shows off her cute side, some of it captures her fierce and fiery energy, and some shows a more evolved side of Misty.
What great about fan art is that, because it's not official, it can showcase all sorts of different aspects of a character's design. Misty's yellow tank top, red suspenders, and short shorts are certainly iconic (if terrible as a fashion statement). But did you know that her outfit in the Pokémon games is completely different? Even in the anime, Misty has dressed up as a mermaid, worn various swimsuits, and even dressed up for traditional festivals. So why not celebrate her many different looks with some awesome fan art?
Below you’ll see some stunning pictures of Misty in her many forms. Misty the mature gym leader, Misty the adorable mermaid, Misty the innocent, and Misty the not-so-innocent. Pictures that would make even Ash realize what he's missing out on. So scroll down, be sure to hit up the artists' pages, and enjoy the many, often inappropriate, sides of everyone's favorite gym leader.
Fan artists and cosplayers have been putting a spin on the famous Pokémon trainer for over a decade. Seeing the Ceruleon City Gym leader in full form helps contextualize the character outside of Ash Ketchum's worldview. Needless to say, she's a beloved character, and a lot of her fans have very specific interpretations of her beauty. There's a lot more to this trainer than we see in the Pokémon show, and fans have pushed her to the limits with their incredible fan art. There are no signs of stopping — Misty continues to be one of the most reimagined characters in the entire Pokémon series. Onto the next one!
Have you ever wondered what the creators of Pokémon think about the way Misty has transformed into an object of desire? As it turns out, they're okay with it. Like, really okay with. In an interview from long ago with one of the series' directors, it was revealed that Misty was designed with cuteness in mind. The designers wanted her to be "eye-candy" for the males watching the show. In that context, her outfit and preferred Pokémon type start to make a lot of sense. What type gives a trainer more excuses to undress and throw on a swimsuit than the water type? So draw on, fan artists, knowing that you have the full blessing of Misty's creators.
Drawing Misty in a swimsuit just makes sense, like using a water type to fight a fire type. It makes so much sense that the creators also built that aspect into Misty's character from the start. The same interview that's quoted above also mentions that the artists wanted to have many girls to design swimsuits for. So the writers established the tradition of having a new female trainer for every region. Even though Misty remains the most iconic of Ash's female companions, she was always destined to leave to make room for the next girl. That's why we get the more dainty Dawn and Serena, and the more sporty May. There's gotta be a girl of every type so that fans can enjoy a bevy of swimsuit-clad beauties. Because that's what people watch Pokémon for, the fan service.
This is one of my favorites on the list because it manages to be cute yet still tasteful. This is the energetic Misty I remember from the cartoon. For once there's a reason for the pose besides fan service. Meanwhile, did you know that her name wasn't actually Misty originally? In Japan, she’s known as Kasumi, which is a Japanese word for mist. It was changed to Misty for the English dub, which actually does a great job of keeping the meaning intact. Ash, however, was named Satoshi in Japan, in honor the creator of Pokémon. Satoshi is a name that approximately means “quick-witted.” Which doesn't sound like Ash at all. Also his last name is Ketchum so...they really phoned that one in.
Ash is certainly not the first, but he is a prime example of the very oblivious anime protagonist. Many male protagonists in action/adventure anime seem to be surrounded by cute girls, only to never notice how cute they are. These girls can flirt with them, bake them sweets, or even walk around in a tank top and shorts all day and still be ignored. Now to be fair, Ash is still young. So it's natural for him to care more about battles and cool pets than girls. Still, you have to wonder if, when he gets older (if he gets older), he'll look back on his adventuring days and realize that he had an amazing girl by his side the whole time. Hopefully, by then he'll be smart enough to ask Misty out. For his sake, I hope she doesn't end up getting over him and getting a boyfriend that can actually win a Pokémon League.
Earlier I pondered the idea of how a grown-up Ash might look at Misty. Would he be more susceptible to her womanly charms? Would an older Misty be less rambunctious and have womanly charms? This artist seems to think so. So did the artist behind The Electric Tale of Pikachu, a manga version of the Pokémon story that featured an older Ash and Misty. In it, Ash drools over the ladies just as much as Brock does. Misty even catches him checking her out when she wears a form-fitting wetsuit. She responds by throwing a Shellder at his face, but she also blushes. It's a great read, if only to catch a glimpse of a time when the Pokémon brand wasn't so focused on being kid-friendly. It's also likely to be the only time you'll see an official product reference the Ash/Misty relationship.
A lot of the art on this list look very clean and have stunning backgrounds. But there's something nice about a simple sketch as well. Look at how cute Misty's smile is as she runs off to the next adventure. This might not be a surprise, but Misty has actually been on the most adventures with Ash (well except for Brock, but you can never get rid of that guy). She beats out Dawn, May, and Serena by appearing in a whopping 282 episodes. Only Dawn comes fairly close with her 200, which explains why she might just be the second most popular female companion. Misty's also the first one to get a costume change. The only other one is Serena, and that's because fashion is a big part of Kalos. So Misty really took a lot of first steps that paved the way for other female protagonists in Pokémon.
Misty in the games is actually a lot different than Misty in the anime. She also doesn't have sisters, and confidently runs the Cerulean Gym by herself. Starmie is actually her main Pokémon in the games, with not even a mention of Togepi or Psyduck, the two Pokémon most anime fans would be more likely to identify her with. Finally, game Misty is more successful in romance. Unlike her cartoon counterpart, game Misty is often found on dates with random dudes from Cerulean. It's often the case that the trainer who wishes to challenge her must track her down and break up her date first. To summarize, game Misty is older, stronger, and more adept at using her feminine wiles.
This cool, mature take on Misty comes with her two most iconic Pokémon. Psyduck needs no introduction, because his derpy exploits are legend. But Togepi is more of a special case. After all, Misty is a water Pokémon specialist but is somehow also playing mom to an egg. Fans will remember that she was kind of forced into the role, because Togepi imprinted itself on her. But it's not inaccurate to say that Misty loves Togepi more than her other Pokémon. She has a reason besides Togepi being her baby. She's been known to say that she likes cute Pokémon most of all, which is probably why she's so indifferent to Psyduck. The little guy comes through in a pinch, but he's not winning any beauty contests. It must suck to be Psyduck sometimes.
Naturally, a beach setting is probably where the most fan art of Misty takes place. What makes this one different is that Misty herself is looking a lot more dainty. Also, Ash is finally, actually noticing her in that certain way. The Pikachu is also a nice touch. Unfortunately for Misty, Ash isn't the only one to enjoy her in a swimsuit. One episode had Misty competing in a beach beauty contest, where she caught the attention of a very creepy old man. This new fan happily expressed that he wanted to have fun with her in eight year's time. Naturally, that line had some grown up implications so it had to be changed for the English dub. There, he says that he wishes Misty was his granddaughter. Which is by no means less creepy. No wonder Misty tends to hide her more appealing side...
This picture really draws out the more cute, youthful aspect of Misty. It's nice to see a less fiery, more soft expression on her face from time to time. But whatever expression she has, Misty seems to be quite confident in her looks. So confident, in fact, that she designed a special fishing lure that looks just like her . I'm actually not sure what that says about how she sees herself. Or what she thinks fish Pokémon enjoy. They must work, though, because she's made multiple incarnations. She even gave one to Ash as a keepsake. Because, you know, nothing says "I love you and will never forget you" like custom fishing equipment.
Another example here of fan art tackling a more rare Misty, this time in formal wear. It's always nice to see her dress up for special occasions. One might imagine her wearing something like this to the annual Christmas party. Oh yeah, didn't you know that the Pokémon world celebrated Christmas? We know thanks to the official CD Pokémon Christmas Bash . It's full of hilarious holiday songs sung by the Pokémon cast, like Under the Mistletoe . In that tune, Misty is trying to find Ash and get him under the mistletoe. When she does, he conveniently runs away to the snack table. Don't worry, Misty, I'm sure there are plenty of devoted fanboys who would love to kiss you!
The mermaid outfit is probably my favorite of her alternate looks. It really captures the idea that Misty is at home in the water, swimming freely with her beloved Pokémon. Still, even the water Pokémon gym leader has had her share of difficulty in taming the creatures. She had to take a hit for Gyarados to get it to trust her, and she was almost ended by Ash's Squirtle. Oh yeah, remember that? Back when it was part of the Squirtle Squad, it held Misty and Brock hostage as Ash was let go to get medicine for Pikachu. They gave him the ultimatum to come back in time or see Misty's hair died purple. Or as Japanese viewers might remember, see her life be taken. Of course, they all became friends in the end. But do you think Misty ever sees Ash's Squirtle and gets traumatic flashbacks to it almost taking her out?
A nice version of the classic Misty here. When it comes to classic Misty, fans know it all. They know what Pokémon she used, how she felt about Ash, and about her infamous bike. But did you know that she actually got her bike back? At the end of the Johto saga was the episode “Gotta Catch You Later!” In that episode, the gang returns to the Viridian Pokémon Center to find that Misty’s bike had been repaired by the resident Nurse Joy. Which is some kind of magic, because that bike was a burnt husk when they left it. Yet this Nurse Joy was somehow able to restore it to working condition. Forget nursing. That Joy needs to open up a bike repair shop.
Another very nice picture of Misty with Ash finally seeming to actually notice that she is, in fact, a girl. Meanwhile, Pikachu takes advantage of the moment to steal Ash's watermelon. Pikachu is actually a little prankster when the mood suits him. We all know that he destroyed Misty’s bike, but that was always played off as an accident. However, it becomes a sort of running gag to the little yellow monster, as it also toasted May and Dawn’s bikes. Then, of course, there's Ash himself, who gets zapped multiple times. After a while, you have to start wondering if it really is an accident. Despite seeming so friendly, Pikachu might just be even more sinister than Team Rocket.
This is definitely the best take on an older Misty. Judging by the fact that she looks older and is referred to as a Gym Leader, I'm going to guess that this is game Misty. And it's nice to see the older, more mature version get some love. If nothing else, it makes a lot more sense to turn her into fan service than her pre-teen counterpart. I mentioned before that the game Misty is known for using Starmie as her main fighter. But what is Starmie? Yes, it’s a starfish, but why does it have a weird gemstone and know psychic moves? Apparently, its appearance bears a strong resemblance to a symbol of the Mesopotamian goddess Inanna , which might explain its mystic powers. Its name, meanwhile, is a combination of the word “star” and the Japanese character “mi” which means “jewel.” So its a blessed jewel starfish?
Many things about Misty are embedded into the minds of '90s kids. Her outfit, her crush on Ash, and even the sound of her voice. Yet we must remember that some of these things were exclusive to the English version of the show. Certain things, like Misty's voice, are a lot different in Japanese. But to the fans in that part of the world, that is Misty. In fact, Misty's Japanese voice actress, Mayumi Iizuka, is considered to be quite perfectly cast. It was even said in an interview that “ during her audition, the director asked her to act like herself, and in doing so she landed the role. As a result, she considers Misty to be the one character she has voiced who most represents herself. " It's crazy to think that there's another version of Misty who sounds completely different, but is just as iconic.
Now for something a little different. This Misty seems to be drawn in a more American style. In fact, she sort of reminds me of the old Batman animated series of the '90s. It's definitely a different direction for an anime character to be taken in. And yet, Misty has been tampered with by American companies before. For instance, her crush on Ash was largely the creation of the English dub. In the Japanese version, the relationship is more implied but not outright stated like in the dub. The English producers even went as far as creating the infamous “Misty’s Song," a ballad of her unrequited love. But the song, however legendary, is not considered canon by the Japanese writers. In fact, it isn’t even a part of the Japanese soundtrack. So yeah, how's that for dubs ruining things?
We've already mentioned that Misty is a very well-traveled trainer. She's seen Kanto, Johto, and even the totally made-up Orange Islands. She's also been to all the random places from the movies. But have you ever kept track of all the awards she's won along the way? Misty has won the title of Queen of the Princess Festival, a Seaking catching competition, and the Tour De Alto Mare. She also placed in the Top 8 in the Whirl cup, making it further than even Ash. The show often focuses more on the exploits of Ash, including his infamous habi
