Missionary news September\October
Alena Sakhankova SteigerPolska“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
Alas, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.”
7 But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.
Jeremiah 1: 5-8
I often ask myself the question: “Why me, God?” But He always gives strength and opportunity for the Good News to spread, even when I feel that I am powerless and cannot do anything...
I am now stepping into a new role in the mission. I am increasingly involved in finance and accounting, as well as planning and monitoring budgets for new projects.
I am also the coordinator of a new direction - Impact Trip. This includes organizing mission trips and programs for individuals and church groups from around the world to provide opportunities to learn from the experiences of Steiger city teams, giving people practical tools for street evangelism, creating cultural events and projects in the city and at festivals.
One of the projects that I oversee is the Pol’and’Rock festival, which I attended this summer.
I also develop structures for Steiger city teams, roles for missionaries, and OKRs.
A new season has begun in the community house. Almost every week we organize meetings in our home for non-Christian we meet on the street, but we also provide space for organizing prayers and worship nights.
I am happy to be able to serve people and use my gifts to enhance the mission.
God is opening many doors and opportunities for us in the Christian world in Poland. At the beginning of October, one of the largest conferences took place - Ewangieliczna Polska, which brought together in one place christians from different denominations to glorify God together, discuss problems that exist in churches, and also find common ground in order to further work and create projects together. I was able to not only attend the conference, but also meet many pastors from different cities, share my heart and present the mission. Many have been really open and in the future want to build teams of evangelists who will go out and share the Word of God in their churches. I especially feel God moving in Central Europe and feel a wave of renewal upon our countries.
October 31 - Halloween. The city team and I came out on this day to show that God is the light and He is the answer to all the questions and pain in our lives. A team of 20 people took to the streets of Wroclaw that day! Some guys came from other cities to join us. For Halloween we came up with a small performance about fears. The idea was that we are surrounded every day by fears that prevent us from living in freedom and truth, make us powerless, but Jesus comes and frees us from these chains. The Good News was heard in the main square, many people were open and interested in the message and we spent a total of 5 hours talking to people and telling them about the love of Jesus. Many people simply did not want to leave, but wanted to hear even more about God!!!
As we continue our evangelism the next day, we invite people into our home and build even stronger discipleship relationships with them. Also, a month ago, the "Amigos" application appeared in Wroclaw, which makes it possible to publish your event and interested people can come to it.
In total, about 20 people came from evangelism and application!!!
Magdalena, one of our team members, shared fears from her life, how they did not allow her to live fully and that only faith gave her freedom.
Adam came to dinner. He is 19 years old and he shared that he suffers from prolonged depression, his girlfriend recently left him and he wants to commit suicide. My team and I were able to communicate more deeply with him, talk about God and pray for him. The guys from our team periodically keep in touch with him, meet and pray for him. I believe that Adam will be able to overcome all his problems and truly experience the love of Christ.
Thank you for supporting me. Without your prayers and financial support, I would not be able to serve as involved as I am able to do now.
At the moment I need $600/month to cover the cost of renting a room and household needs.
I also ask you to pray for:
- issuing documents for me to be able to come to Belarus and visit my parents and my church,
- my physical and spiritual state
- for our team in Wroclaw
