Melissa King, Miss Delaware Teen USA reportedly resigned her crown today amidst claims she appeared in a sex video shortly after her 18th birthday.
“I would like to confirm to you that the Miss Delaware Teen USA pageant has received a resignation letter from Miss King’s attorney,” pageant spokeswoman Dara Busch wrote in an e-mail this morning.
King's resignation came after a video found on the website GirlsDoPorn.com on Monday allegedly starred a woman that looked and sounded like King, the Delaware Online reported .
When asked if it was her who in the video, King told the publication she was aware of the video but denied it was her.
“Absolutely not,” she said. “It is not [me.]”
According to Gawker , in the clip, a woman who resembles King explains that she just turned 18, that she went into porn because she needed the money, and that she participates in beauty pageants.
King was crowed Miss Delaware Teen USA last year and will be replaced by runner-up, Hailey Lawler of the Newark area, according to the pageant's website .

The Miss Delaware Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Delaware in the Miss Teen USA pageant. It was formerly directed by Crown Productions from 1993 to 2007, then by D&D Productions from 2007 to 2018. CW Productions became the new directors for the pageant starting in 2019. [1] In 2020, CW Productions was terminated. The license to produce the 2021 state pageants was awarded to V&M Productions, LLC into the directorship of Vincenza Carrieri-Russo . This is only the second time that the pageant is produced by a former Miss Delaware USA.

The current titleholder is Ava MacMurray of Hockessin and she was crowned on April 3, 2022 at Laird Performing Arts Center in The Tatnall School in Wilmington . She will represent Delaware for the title of Miss Teen USA 2022.

In terms of number of placements and awards, Delaware is one of the least successful states at Miss Teen USA . However, Ashley Coleman broke the mold to win the Miss Teen USA crown in 1999 .
Miss Delaware Teen USA 2000, Carrie Aiken, and 2001, Christie Aiken, are sisters. Miss Delaware Teen USA 1997, Cheryl Crowe, was the first Delaware teen to cross over to the Miss Delaware USA title. Since Cheryl, Kelsey Miller (2009), Mia Jones (2014) and Sierra Wright (2015) went on to win the Miss Delaware USA title, in 2014, 2017 and 2018 respectively. Miss Delaware Teen USA 2011, Amanda Debus, was the first, and so far only, Delaware teen to cross over from the Miss Delaware's Outstanding Teen title, she is also the only successful MAO/MUO crossover in Delaware. Amanda Debus is the first USA titleholder to win Miss Delaware in the Miss America system.

She's been flung into the media spotlight since renouncing her title as Miss Delaware Teen USA after becoming embroiled in a porn scandal - and it seems Melissa King has enjoyed the experience.
The 19-year-old pageant queen has revealed that she wants to be a journalist and will be starting college this fall to pursue the career.
King shared her intentions outside Worcester County District Court in Ocean City, Maryland on Monday, where she pleaded guilty to a charge of underage alcohol consumption.
Charges of theft that accused Miss King of stealing money from a bus fare box were dropped.

Her attorney, J. Gregory Hannigan, told reporters outside the court that pleading guilty to the alcohol possession citation and paying a $100 fine would allow her a fresh start at college this fall.
'So that she can be a normal freshman, we're going to keep the name [of the college] quiet,' Hannigan said, adding that it was in a Western state.
She simply added, 'I feel fine' and told reporters that after attending college she's 'going to go on to a journalism career'.
Refusing to comment on the pornographic video she allegedly appeared in costing her her beauty queen title, Miss King's attorney confirmed she would not answer 'rude or invasive questions.'

The outstanding arrest warrants were issued in 2012 after she failed to appear in court on citations for theft and possessing alcohol as a minor.
'Neither one is extraditable from Delaware,' Officer Mike Levy, police spokesman for the department in Ocean City, Maryland, told the Delaware News Journal last year.
'The warrants are on file. If she surrenders herself in Maryland, she will have to go before the court to deal with the charges.'
The charges came shortly after King, then the reigning Miss Teen Delaware International 2012, exited foster care and around the time she allegedly recorded a porn video.
Regarding allegations that she had stolen money from a city bus fare box, Mr Hannigan explained the charge, saying it had been a misunderstanding.

Miss King had paid $2 to ride a bus with a friend and then taken the fares out when they decided not to take the journey.
Mr Hannigan added that his client was 'relieved' to be given unsupervised probation and as the driver, took responsibility for the open bottle of Rum discovered in her father's car when police pulled her over for a cracked tail light.
King originally denied she had appeared in the damning porn video, but the woman, who looks extremely similar to the beauty queen, identifies herself by name in the footage.
'I, Melissa King, am doing this scene of my own free will and I am of sound mind and body. I am not under the influence of drugs or any mind-altering substances,' she said at the start.
Following the release of the video, she was forced to give up her crown and take down her Facebook fan page.

A spokesperson for the Miss Teen USA pageant released a statement saying: 'I would like to confirm the Miss Delaware Teen USA pageant has received a resignation letter from Miss King’s attorney.'
The video is believed to have been shot some time in June 2012. She was crowned as Miss Delaware Teen USA four months after.
At the beginning of the video, a girl in a purple patterned dress sits on a bed and answers questions from the man behind the camera.
The man asks her when she turned 18, she replies: 'Three months ago, in March.' King’s birthday is in March, according to the Miss Delaware Teen USA website.
The interviewer then asks her what made her want to do her first adult video. 'I thought it'd be fun and it sounded like I needed the money,' the young girl says. 'So I just decided to do it.'

According to Delaware Online , the interview then fades to another set of questions where she is asked about being a 'Miss Teen?'
When the woman acts reluctant to talk about it, he says 'I’m not going to say the state or anything... You did beauty pageants?'
'I've done them, yes,' she responds.
Following the scandal, the pageant reached out to the first runner-up Hailey Lawler, a high school senior, who has now replaced King.
King has also been offered $250,000 by internet company YouPorn to be their spokesman, which would mean promotion work but she would not have to shoot any sex scenes.

WESTMINSTER, MD (CBS) – In an effort to hear from the beauty queen who allegedly appeared in a sex tape, Eyewitness News traveled to Westminster, Maryland.
A man at the home we visited said King may talk, but then he referred us to her attorney.
Melissa King seemingly had it all. In November 2012 she won Miss Delaware Teen USA.
According to her Miss Delaware USA bio, the 18-year-old is a competitive gymnast who excelled in the classroom.
But Tuesday, an x-rated video of a girl that looks and sounds like King surfaced on the internet.
The video starts with a young woman on a bed answering questions from the cameraman.
He asks why she decided to do a sex tape. She says, she thought it would be fun and she needed the money.
When the cameraman asks whether she’s done beauty pageants, she syas, “I’ve done them.”
Tuesday, pageant officials confirmed King’s attorney sent them a resignation letter.
We found video of King on YouTube where she is being interviewed for a documentary about growing up in foster care.
King says she entered the foster care system at the age of 12 and described her life as sometimes stressful when she was moving from place to place.
While many people have criticized King since the video leaked, dozens are coming to her defense on Twitter.
One woman wrote, “Everyone falls down but its how they get back up that really matters.”
King responded by writing, “Thank you Melissa, it means a lot.”
An hour before that post, King wrote “God wouldn’t give you something that you couldn’t handle.”
