What do you get when one of the contestants in Brazil's most notorious beauty contest poses topless next to Paris's most venerated tourist attraction?
The contest in question is, of course, Miss Bum Bum, which celebrates the ample assets of Brazilian women. The attraction is the Eiffel Tower, which was first, um, erected in 1889.
Arousing the stares of Parisians and tourists alike, Indianara Carvalho bared her barely-covered behind in the city of lights before police forced her to cover up and asked her to take her talents elsewhere as she began to strip off even more of her skimpy outfit.
The police threat, however, did not deter the brave Brazilian beauty. She simply found a more secluded spot near the Tower to continue the photo shoot, stripping off her top, slipping into a pair of black swimsuit bottoms, black high heels and… well, actually, that's all she was wearing.
Ms. Carvalho’s Parisian striptease isn’t the first time – and probably not the last – that a Miss Bum Bum contestant has shown off her famous features abroad.
The winner of the contest in 2012, Carine Felizardo, showed off her award-winning tush at the "Crossroads of the World" when she strutted around New York City’s Times Square in a skimpy bikini during a frigid day in January.
And don't fret that the girls of the contest might be neglecting their fellow Brazilians. A group of them headed out to the streets of SΓ£o Paulo to give the city a glimpse their bounteous booties.
After online voting for the annual contest reached a million votes, the organizers put out the photos of the 27 girls garbed in little more than lingerie.
Fun stories about food, relationships, the great outdoors and more.

Uganda's minister for ethics and integrity has had to stop by force beauty contests at which the female participants bare their all in a bid to win prizes such as television sets and trips to the beaches of Mombasa in neighbouring Kenya.
The government has warned that it may ban all beauty contests, held almost on a monthly basis in various parts of the country, as they promote pornography.
But it adds that beauty contests are only one of the avenues through which pornography is being promoted - the others being private FM radio stations as well as some publications.
"Our moral standards are falling and by the year 2005 Uganda might be the worst country with regard to pornography," legislator Tim Lwanga said in parliament last month.
"We either do something about this or perish. Pornography and bad language are not controlled on radio and television."
Another MP, Asanasio Kayizzi, said: "There is a need for the government to save the situation of demoralising and degenerating cultures and traditions on radio and television."
Ugandan publishers at the end of 1996 introduced a "cultural revolution" in the region, by starting a number of semi-pornographic publications which were later replicated in Kenya and Tanzania. The magazines featured scantily dressed women and their content was almost exclusively sex.
Though initially they registered a phenomenal growth in readership, eventually their market share declined as they were fought by the government, women activists and religious leaders. In addition, their content was always the same so readers apparently got bored.
Having won the battle against porn in publications, Ugandan politicians, traditionalists and religious authorities agree that something must now be done to discourage wanton pornography being promoted by organisers of beauty contests.
The latest outrage follows a pageant in which teen participants posed nude on stage in the rural town of Nansana in a contest that promised the winner a television set worth R1 050.
The Christian churches and leaders of the Muslim community have supported the government, saying beauty contests should be stopped immediately, especially those which encourage scantily dressed teenage girls to participate.
"The contests have gone astray and the government cannot just sit by and watch," said Canon Nelson Kaweesa of Namirembe diocese, the seat of the Anglican church in Uganda. "All preachers should start telling parents not to allow their children to participate in the contests."
He said the church leadership was going to be told to start campaigning at the pageants "which are being staged by money-hungry promoters".
Muslim leaders argue that it is against sharia law for people to use their bodies to enrich themselves.
Edward Rugumayo, the internal affairs minister, says the government has been pushed too far by the promoters of the contests and it may be forced to abolish the events if organisers fail to shape up.
"When we give them licences to operate, it does not mean that they should go and start promoting nudity. This is pornography and we shall be forced to ban such beauty contests," said the minister.
"It is absolutely bad for the youth to dress in such disgusting ways that are not acceptable in the Ugandan culture."
Recently, Miria Matembe, the ethics and integrity minister, cancelled the finals of a beauty contest in Nateete, near Kampala, after risque photographs of contestants appeared in the press.
While the nude shows are attracting large audiences and are held every other day, the Miss Uganda pageant, at which a beauty is chosen to represent the country at the Miss World contest, has not been held for more than three years because of lack of funding.
Observers say it is poverty that has prompted several young girls to take off their clothes in public. Unemployment is high, even among university graduates. Many other girls who are desperate for money have resorted to prostitution.
Asuman Mugenyi, a police spokesperson, said recently that most of the prostitutes on Kampala's streets were students of the region's oldest and most prestigious university, Makerere.
While this statement may be far-fetched, observers say some university students are indeed involved in prostitution.
There have been instances in the past, however, where prostitutes who could not even communicate in English claimed they were students from the university in order to fetch a higher price from their clients.
Be that as it may, those who were around in the 1970s say what is happening now could not have happened then. Dictator Idi Amin had a tough anti-prostitution squad. In those days even wearing miniskirts and certain hairstyles could earn women a long term in the country's brutal jails. - Foreign Service
