When 13-year old Miranda Kerr entered Dolly magazine's annual modelling competition in 1997, did she know that she was going win? Could she have anticipated that this national competition would lead to work with Victoria's Secret, David Jones, Dior and Chanel to name but a few? Whether or not she had an inkling of what lay before her, we're glad she entered. Otherwise, the world may never have been introduced to the irreplaceable Miranda Kerr!
Miranda is no stranger to posing nude, whether it be intentionally or accidentally! One of her earliest naked shoots was when she appeared naked on a 2009 cover of Rolling Stone , chained to a tree, to raise awareness of the plight of koalas. Of course, when Miranda became an expectant mother, she made sure to maintain an extra-conservative image to keep all the critics at bay...nah, just kidding! Miranda shot a stunning nude editorial with photographer Patrick Demachelier for W magazine while she was 6.5 months pregnant with her first baby, Flynn (you can see the NSFW result here ) On the other end of the spectrrum, Miranda also had t his revealing wardrobe malfunction on location in 2013, and man. calling it "a double nip-slip" is definitely an understatement!
Let's look back at 6 of the best times that Miranda (intentionally) got nude for the camera.
Taken: Miranda shot this campaign for the launch of the Reebok Skyscape Forever trainer in 2014
Overview: The whole point of the Reebok Skyscape Forever trainers is that they are supposedly so comfy, you forget you're wearing them. That's certainly what happens to Miranda anyway, when she jumps in the shower post-run and takes off everything but her shoes!
Reaction: If you ignore the slightly creepy voyeur vibe, the advertisement itself is quite cheeky and fun. Miranda can laugh at herself, so the role of 'stunningly beautiful, yet forgetful, jogger' is perfect for her.
Taken: Miranda starred in 7 For All Mankind's 2014 autumn/winter campaign
Overview: She lounges topless on crisp white sheets. She reclines in the bath wearing only her jeans. She exudes confidence. For Miranda Kerr, naked is second nature.
Reaction: The 7 For All Mankind campaign was all about comparing the sexual charged obsession between a man and woman, with the passion a woman has for her favourite jeans. In the ad, Miranda says "I love them, I love them", referring to her denims. The sexy black and white footage has us saying "We love you , Miranda!"
Taken: Miranda took part in this sizzling session with Chris Colls, the accomplished Australian born photographer who has shot for multiple international Vogue titles and clients the likes of Max Mara and Karl Lagerfeld . It's great to see Aussies teaming up in the industry!
Overview: A tiny nip slip and a little bit of butt cheek - these photos barely show Miranda Kerr nude but yet they radiate sensuality. Black and white really suits you Miranda.
Reaction: Viewers were blown away, leaving positive comments all over Chris's Instagram . Our favourite comment so far is "Too much for my eyes and self esteem to handle". Can relate, random Instagram user. Can relate.
Taken: Miranda Kerr appeared in the 2010 Pirelli Calendar , shot by controversial photographer Terry Richardson.
Overview: Miranda appeared in the 2010 all-nude calendar alongside fellow Australian model Abby Lee Kershaw and Brits Lily Cole and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. The extremely NSFW ' Pirelli Calendar 2010 (The Making Of) ' is available on Vimeo, and in it you can see Miranda in her element, having her hair cut on set and posing in a barely-there pair of overalls. Miranda would go on to appear in the 2014 issue of 'the Cal' as well.
Reaction: In hindsight, whatever beauty can be found in the all-nude calendar is tainted due to Terry Richardson (whom Miranda also posed for in 2012, wearing nothing but a Hermès boots). Vogue, GQ, Vanity Fair , Glamour and Wired are magazines who will no longer work with the photographer.
Taken: This photoshoot for GQ took place in 2010, way back when Miranda was still with Orlando Bloom .
Overview: These shots were taken only two years after Miranda had become the first ever Australian Victoria's Secret Angel. She had been dating Orlando for two years, and would marry him in later in 2010 as well.
Reaction: Miranda is definitely channelling something a Brigitte Bardot-esque in these photos. The dark eye makeup, the thick tousled hair, sure these pictures are almost 20 years old but they still show the Miranda we all know and love.
Taken: This photoshoot was for British GQ in 2014.
Overview: Photographer Mario Testino was the man behind the camera when Miranda Kerr stripped off yet again for another GQ publication. The inspiration behind the shoot was almost 'old school gymnasium', with Miranda posing on a pommel horse.
Reaction: We have a winner. Who else could wear nothing but a pair of knee-high bus driver socks and still end up breaking hearts? In the accompanying interview, Miranda revealed her love for both the male and female form, causing many readers at the time to conclude that she was bisexual. " I love the female body and truly appreciate the female form" she said. "I really enjoy sketching women, especially their backs. I definitely need a man in the bedroom, however — a nice strong chest to lie on. Still, I want to explore. Never say never.” In the BTS video, you can hear Mario call Miranda "elegant" and "chic" as he photographs her, and we couldn't agree more!
