Pursuant to the decision by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, unexpected inspections are conducted in the Russian Ministry of Defence to assess the condition and increase the readiness of the command and control brodies, troops and forces to carry out tasks for their intended purpose in all strategic areas.

Today, at 9 a.m. (Vladivostok time), the Pacific Fleet in full force was alerted, and started transferring to the highest degree of combat readiness.

A part of Aerospace Forces, military units, and support units are also involved in the event.

The main purpose of this inspection is to build up the ability of the Armed Forces to deal with the tasks of repelling the maritime aggression of a potential enemy.

In accordance with the orders issued by the General Staff, the Fleet is to refine the application plan in the light of the training situation, prepare the forces (troops) for combat operations in a short time, carry out operational deployment, and practice a set of training and combat missions both in the nearshore and off-shore maritime zones.

During the event, the Pacific Fleet will train to repel massive missile and air strikes, conduct anti-submarine warfare exercises, and carry out torpedo and artillery live-fire and missile launches during the defeat of a surface action group and surface facilities of a mock enemy.

Admiral Nikolay Anatolyevich Yevmenov, the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, was appointed as immediate head of the inspection.

In order to fulfil the objectives set by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces:

The Commander-in-Chief of the Navy and the General Staff shall organise control of the actions of the military command and control bodies of the forces (troops). The relevant working groups shall be formed.

The Main Combat Training Directorate shall monitor the activities and check the condition of the coastal troops. The senior commanders of the inspection groups shall ensure practising the use of inter-branch groupings, taking into account the modern means of hostile weapons and new forms and methods of warfare.

Further work of the command and control bodies shall be organised in accordance with the inspection plan.

In all its stages, it is essential to ensure strict compliance with security requirements, safety of weapons and ammunition, and avoid cases of damage to state property.

The inspection will have a number of features.

Before deploying forces to the training areas, it is planned to conduct an underwater survey of the approaches to the fleet's locations in short order.

The main exercises with naval groups shall be conducted with mock enemy designation and in a complex jamming environment.

In practice, it is necessary to work through the ways of preventing the deployment of enemy forces into the operationally important region of the Pacific Ocean, the southern part of the Sea of Okhotsk, and repelling the enemy's landing on the southern Kuril Islands and Sakhalin Island.

Throughout the inspection, it is necessary to pay attention to developing countermeasures against a mock adversary.

Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation Aleksander Fomin shall inform the military attachés about the tasks of the unexpected inspection of the Pacific Fleet.
