Minetest 5.4.0 makes it Easier to Download Mods and Games.

Minetest is a open source, free and free of charge game engine voxel, inspired initially by Minecraft it is gradually getting bigger and better with lots of available games for it. A new version is on the horizon with Minetest 5.4.0 which is now a Release Candidate which is a time when they'll need as many players as they can to try it out and ensure it all works properly.

They introduced an in-game UI for downloading games and mods in Minetest 5.0, which was released in 2019. While it worked, they made improvements to it with each release. However the dependency system was a problem. One modification required another one, and so on. It was once a pain to find them all, but it is now much simpler. The 5.4 release comes with a new UI flow to download mods and games along with dependency resolution, the ability to update all, as well as download queues.

It's simple and effective.

It makes it much easier and faster. Enabling you to get your Minetest experience exactly the way you would like it. Do you want to incorporate every possible modification into the base Minetest game. Go for it. Do you want to test a whole conversion game? You can also play a whole conversion game.

This could be a great way to get me to play more Minetest!

Here are a few more exciting features:

Improve input binding, permit mouse bindings - Semi-transparent background to nametags - Mapgen Flat: Add caverns, disabled by default. ContentDB: Add overwrite dialog when content is already installed - Many modding enhancements Security fixes

More details are available on the Minetest website. You can find the Minetest 5.4.0 announcement about RC1 here.
