Minecraft's Latest Snapshot Adds Chat Reports For Abuse-free Building
Minecraft is a game that needs to be played with your friends. Sometimes, you'll be working together to create something amazing or else you'll be using mods to recreate Eldenring, and other times you'll explore servers online to see what else the internet offers. Sometimes, things can get messy when you play online with strangers. That is what the latest Minecraft snapshot aims to address.
Minecraft snapshot 22W24A is available right now, and is building towards 1.19.1 by making some bug fixes and two new features. The most important one is chat reporting, which allows you to report players sending "abusive messages" in chat game. It is important to note that the blog explains that "any reports made during the testing phase may not be acted upon," but the ability to kick out toxic players is an essential aspect of any online game which is why this could be an excellent step.
Chat reporting is available in the social interactions screen. You'll need to report individual chat messages and select a category. This is probably to protect the system from being abused, as you can't simply create a generic report of an individual player. You have to detail what they've done and the blog says that the report will be reviewed by a moderator. It's not possible to know what constitutes a genuine and actionable report at this point, but it's worth learning about it.
Another significant change is that you can now duplicate the amazing Minecraft allay. This can be done by providing them with an amethyst shard, however duplicates have an 2.5-minute cooldown. This should take away any worries about how many mobs of allay are there. Plus there's always more of the cute thing, right?
