Minecraft on Xbox one this Week, PS4 "soon," maybe Later" [Update]
Not satisfied with mere bajillions, Minecraft starts racking up more sales this week, when it goes live as a download on Xbox One - and perhaps PS4 too. The Xbox One release date is set for Friday September 5 and 360 owners of Mojang's sandbox game will be allowed to upgrade at a cost of $5/PS4 - Microsoft says the upgrade is applicable regardless of whether you own discs or download copies. The full price version is $20/PS16.
While the PS4 date is unknown however, Mojang's Daniel Kaplan tweeted that "Sony friends" can expect an "Minecraft surprise very soon... or maybe sooner?!" That tease followed an PlayStation France tweet that claimed the PS4 version of Minecraft will be released today, although no other Sony channels have confirmed that. We'll let everyone know as soon as we know a release date for the PS4 version.

For the Vita version, it appears unlikely to land this week. 4J Studios, the porting team, stated last week that it had "more work" to finish before submitting Vita builds to Sony for certification.
The new versions of Minecraft come with worlds that are up to 36 times larger than the last-generation originals, along with larger draw distances. PS3 and Xbox 360 owners have the option of importing their Minecraft worlds into the Xbox One and PS4 versions as well.
The announcement is released in the same week Mojang released Minecraft 1.8 on PC, the update that's been in development for the longest time at the Swedish studio with a total of 300 days.
