'Minecraft' might get Banned in Turkey because it is too Violent


In a move of absolute absurdity, Turkey wants to ban Minecraft because its Family and Social Policy Ministry's deemed it too violent for children. Yes, a game in which you build fortresses and pound trees is getting called out for its content because in Survival Mode, you have to defend yourself against zombie-like Mobs and sometimes, that means killing them. As the region's Hurriyet Daily News reports, the Ministry also warns that youngsters might mistake Minecraft's complicated pixels-filled landscapes with the real world, which could cause them to believe that torturing animals was totally fine. Even if you have the basics of Minecraft, it is likely that the whole idea sounds too bizarre to be real. Unfortunately, this is not the situation. VentureBeat states that Turkey would be the first to ban the game if the Ministry's petition is successful, but Turkey doesn't have a history bans on violent games. It's not clear whether the government will follow Mojang's example, given its history of blocking access to things like YouTube and Twitter.
