Lovers of sandbox game Minecraft will be able to lose themselves in its world of blocky graphics as Minecraft launches on the Oculus Rift.

Global Xbox and PC users who have already played the game will be able to receive a free Windows 10 beta update to be able to enter the VR world.

Writing on Xbox Wire, the game's AR/VR creator, Mike McGrath, said: 'For new and experienced gamers, we hope that the VR experience in Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta will show how powerful, evocative and utterly immersive VR can really be.'

Mojang states that this is due to tweaks in the in-play turning. This makes it more comfortable for players and lets them explore their VR world.

A blog post on the Oculus Rift site said"Build, explore and fight mobs with an entirely new perspective.

"With the help of a VR headset on, coming face-to-face with massive mobs takes on a new meaning; creeping into dark caves creates more fear due to 3D audio; and the glow of a beautiful sunrise seems to envelop you more completely.'

OCULUSRIFT RECEIVES A UK LOUNCH DATE

The Oculus RIft has been the most talked-about tech for years, since the first developer kits being released in 2012.

The latest official news is that it will be available in the UK, Europe, and Canada on September 20th with prices of PS549 or EUR699. It's already available in the US at a cost of $599.

The headset is available for purchase at John Lewis, Amazon, Game and Game. The headset will include Lucky's Tale platform game, along with a plethora of VR movies and videos.
