Minecraft Gets Twitch-y with new Partnership For Integrated Streaming
Twitch and Mojang have joined forces to provide an integrated streaming experience for the indie phenomenon Minecraft, the companies announced at MineCon today. According to the press release that was released, gamers playing on PC and Mac will soon be in a position to stream their games to their Twitch.tv channels.
Matthew DiPietro (Vice President of Marketing at Twitch) stated in the same press release that Minecraft has "struck a very strong connection" with Twitch users. "Its ever-growing popularity shows that people are drawn to watching video games , not just the eSports titles that are a big draw. If Twitch allows you to stream live gameplay you can expect a memorable occasion for both players as well as spectators.
While this announcement is only for PC and Mac users, it's important to note that the Xbox One will be getting its own version of Minecraft, and Twitch is integrated into Microsoft's next-gen system. SAN FRANCISCO - November 2, 2013, Twitch the world's most popular video platform and community for gamers, today announced at the sold-out MineCon convention a partnership agreement with Mojang to provide broadcasting functionality for Minecraft.
