Minecraft Chat Reporting Features will be Available Mojang Says Mojang
Minecraft's moderation and reporting features were first unveiled last month, and then saw community feedback decrying them for being unsuitable for the job. Mojang has confirmed that they will continue to utilize the tools, despite some scathing criticisms and reasoning.
MojangMeesh, the community manager on Reddit posted an article explaining the decision. "We appreciate and value all your feedback, but it doesn't mean that feedback will ever change the design principles Mojang Studios adheres to - this includes upcoming reporting system." The second paragraph in the comment states that players have been commenting on complaints that were made by Mojang employees. Harassment is not a good thing, which is actually the reason for the reporting features in the first place.
Many players reacted to this comment by stating that they don't feel like they're being listened to. They believe that every Minecraft server as a safe space and shouldn't need to be moderated. This is so much the situation that there are a variety of ways to remove these features from your personal server, whether by using Spigot or a CurseForge mod.
In the end, if there aren't any complaints or discussions are taking place to change the features then it's normal for players to be irritated. A lot of players have more than a decade of experience in this game and, as adults, think that they shouldn't have to be watched. But, it's equally important to remember that Minecraft is a game that's full of younger players and there have to be security measures in place to protect them from harm. However, it's not clear that anything will change soon.
