And according to what Tanya says to Kotal in story mode, she mentions that she's only helping Mileena because "she's going to create a free Edenia, something you (Kotal Kahn) didn't do." What I take from this is that she was only with Mileena out of interest. In MK 11, it seems like Mileena really cared about Tanya and really loved her.
Mileena remains imprisoned for years, until Onaga the Dragon King began his own invasion of Edenia, during which she is freed from her imprisonment by Baraka. During the events of Mortal Kombat: Deception, Mileena is ordered to pose as Kitana in order to mislead the princess' armies while Onaga gathered his strength.
Mileena is the first female character to be confirmed in the new Mortal Kombat video game, due to be released in 2011. Mileena never had any new special moves since MK2. Until Mortal Kombat (2011), she now has new special moves called Face Know and Backstabber. She can be considered one of the most evil and treacherous characters in Mortal Kombat.
