Since she broke up with John Mayer in 2007, there has been no news about her relationship status. There were some rumors about her secretly dating someone in 2018 but there was no further information. There has been no news about her hanging out or being seen with any particular guy. She was, however, seen with her lady friend, with whom she was caught sharing some intimate and personal moments. This led to the rumors of her being a lesbian. After that, she has started her organization to help other organizations such as the Boat Refugee, The Syria Fund and Off Track Health. WARNING: This story contains spoilers for “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”
As if “Spider-Man: No Way Home” didn’t have enough epic reveals [spoiler alert]: Marisa Tomei said she campaigned to have her character be a lesbian in the franchise’s final installment. The 57-year-old Oscar winner dropped the bombshell in a Dec. 19 interview with the Geeks of Color .
“There was a moment, where I felt that May — maybe she should just be with a woman because Ben is gone,” claimed Tomei, who plays Peter Parker’s Aunt May Parker in the critically acclaimed superhero flick . She was referring to her character’s deceased husband, Ben Parker, who is infamously murdered by a burglar in the comic books and films.
If that wasn’t juicy enough, the “My Cousin Vinny” star even proposed that her on-screen lady lover be none other than Sony producer Amy Pascal.
“And we were kind of talking about it,” the Brooklyn native explained while erupting into laughter. “And so I actually really wanted Amy Pascal from Sony to be my girlfriend!”
She added, “I was like, ‘No one even has to know, Amy. I’ll just be in a scene and you’ll be over there. And I’ll just be like, “Hey!” It’ll just be a subtle thing.'”
Unfortunately, her idea for a cinematic coming-out party was shut down by film execs.
“No one went for it at the time,” lamented the “The Big Short” actress.
The proposal was widely blasted, with one traditionalist dissenter tweeting , “Let’s forget completely about Uncle Ben and go straight to Aunt May being lesbian. Yeah, the fans will be super happy — Said no one. Ever.”
Conservative rapper Eric July seconded their sentiment, writing , “Hollywood brainlet, Marisa Tomei wanted MCU ‘Aunt May’ to be lesbian, because ‘Ben was gone anyways.”
“These people have no idea who these characters are,” he added. “Stop giving Marvel the benefit of the doubt just because they nostalgia-baited you.”
However, others lapped up the idea of Aunt May’s same-sex awakening.
“Not gonna lie, this would’ve been awesome,” tweeted one Marvel fan. “We were deprived of cool lesbian aunt May and that is the biggest mistake of the entire franchise right there.”
Indeed, Marvel is no stranger to LGBTQ comic book figures. Earlier this year, the comic book company unveiled its first-ever gay Captain America character, which it debuted during Pride Week in June.

The character has the fullest LGBTQ+ of the franchise's history.
Mortal Kombat has been one of the most popular fighting games on the market ever since it first launched in 1992, and the game is getting some much needed queer representation in it’s latest edition, Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate . In the new game, classic character Mileena is shown to be in a lesbian relationship with a fellow fighter — this post will, understandably, spoil some of the game.
For those who haven’t played, Mileena is a genetic experiment clone of the Edenian princess Kitana, mixed with Tarkatan (a brutal, demon-like race) blood. She’s been an antagonist throughout the series, starting with her appearance in Mortal Kombat II . While she recently died, MK 11 sees her being plucked from the past to get a new chance at life.
While killing and conquering has been her main motivation in the past, this time, Mileena seems to look for something deeper — love and a family. She finds this in fellow Edenian warrior Tanya, with whom she shared quite a few flirty exchanges in the last game.
Mortal Kombat 11 has Mileena taking her place as a princess to Emperor Shao Kahn and Queen Sindel, and producing an heir with her lover Tanya. In the scene, she’s affectionately holding an infant in her arms, feeding it human flesh, while Tanya embraces her and smiles.
Mileena isn’t the first queer character in the series, Mortal Kombat X showed ex-Shaoilin Monk Kung Jin to be gay, but this is the most expansive LGBTQ+ story we’ve gotten in one of these games so far.
If all of this wasn’t enough to grab your attention, watch this Mortal Kombat 11 ad for Mileena starring Megan Thee Stallion serving full Tarkatan Assassin Realness. This is real Hot Girl Shit. It’s the lesbian monsterf*cker content we’ve been dying for, and Mileena is happy to provide that death.
Mortal Kombat 11 , as well as the Kombat Pack 2 expansion and Ultimate Bundle featuring Mileena, are available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC and Google Stadia.
