Winbox vulnerability: please upgrade . Thu Aug 02, 2018 11:34 am . It has come to our attention that a rogue botnet is currently using the same vulnerability in the RouterOS Winbox service, that was patched in RouterOS v6 .42 .1 in April 23, 2018 .
This section is split into two sub-chapters: How to update the Mikrotik RouterOS on a server and how to upgrade a Mikrotik Router itself . How to Update Mikrotik OS? Login to your Mikrotik via Winbox . Select system and click on packages . In the opened window, click on check for updates . A new window appears and you can select the version of the packages .
The automatic upgrade feature connects to the MikroTik download servers, and checks if there is a new RouterOS version for your device . If yes, a changelog is displayed, and Upgrade button is shown . Clicking the upgrade button, software packages are automatically downloaded, and device will be rebooted .

Upgrade your boxes asap and disable winbox -- it seems to be just a dump of vulnerabilities that keep on surfacing I really don't understand why Mikrotik keeps supporting that thing -- ROS can be managed with ssh, the api is more or less OK, web interface is acceptable, why continue to support this crap and assign resources to something that dangerous and buggy and platform-dependant?
If you are already running RouterOS, upgrading to the latest version can be done by clicking on "Check For Updates" in QuickSet or System > Packages menu in WebFig or WinBox . See the documentation for more information about upgrading and release types .
