Actually, if I remember correctly Candid Candid camera was actually pre-Playboy channel. I think it was on HBO or something. Later on it was shown on the Playboy Channel and I think they eventually rebranded it to Playboy’s Candid Camera and then the Really Naked Truth or something like that.
Whatever cable channel it was originally, the budget was practically nothing. Most of the gags took place in cheap hotel rooms and Funt did the intros apparently from his home. The budget was mainly spent on the skeleton crew & the naked girls, who were most likely strippers or light porn chicks. The whole thing had a cheap semi-porn feel to it, with Funt coming off as a dirty old man. Some of the scenes were just his hidden camera footage of the girls when they thought they were alone in room, nude. One time he talked to 3 of them on the phone, asking them if their boobs were real or fake, getting them to lie on a couch & massage their boobs, or jump up & down. They all said “Why am I doing this? Are you filming me?” “No honey, just try it out and tell me what the boobs do.” Kinda creepy. But he had a subtly clever way about him, and all these women did what he told them even if they thought they were alone & off camera. Interesting series; I’ve never seen it done before or since, and despite the super cheap feel & obvious attempts to make it sexy, I think he was really intrigued by the reactions of random men in common situations to suddenly encountering nude women. They usually stared closely at them, some starting into small talk or trying to touch the private parts. Women, on the other hand, generally refused to even PEEK at nude men, even running out of the room sometimes. I rewatch these videos occasionally and they’re still sexy in an odd, dated way (back when all women had bushes), and very funny as well as psychologically revealing.
Best stuff I saw her in was “Candid Candid Camera” from the 80’s. A series of nude CC’s Allen Funt did for the Playboy Channel. Michelle is all over them, completely nude, shocking unsuspecting dudes from temp agencies who came to do simple jobs and suddenly encounter completely nude women. In one of them she has sneezing fits which make her pants fall off, lol. In another she has a guy rub her bare ass with paint. Funt keeps calling & agitating the guys every 5 minutes. The latter stunt was the best because after he rubs her ass, she leaves, and he sits there thinking hard, in total confusion as to why this happened. Then he figures it out – it could only be a weird CC stunt. When Funt calls again, he says, “Wait, just stop right there. Is this Allen Funt?” I scoured the web looking for these old videos and found them on a torrent site over 15 years ago. They may still be out there, who knows.
