📷🔳Michael Zavros (born in 1974) is an Australian artist best known for his photorealistic, hyper-detailed paintings of thought-provoking scenes and surreal juxtapositions. His works reference Pop artists like Jeff Koons as well as ancient Greek mythology.
“I’m an unashamed aesthete. I like to make work that is beautiful and then to gaze at it,” the artist remarked. “And my idea of beauty is often keyed to luxury or status but I never seek to cast a moral judgement over my subject.”
From 2007-2011 Zavros served on the Visual Arts Board of the Australia Council for the Arts. He is a current board member of NAVA (National association for the Visual Arts) and sits on the Queensland College of Art (Griffith University) board.
