New York, NY – May 29, 2025 – Former U.S. Representative Michael Grimm, a Republican known for his fiery personality and past legal troubles, has officially declared his candidacy for Mayor of New York City in the 2025 election. 'Our city is in crisis, and soft-on-crime policies have made life harder for working families,' Grimm said at his campaign launch. 'I’ve spent my life fighting for this city—first as a Marine, then as an FBI agent, and later in Congress. I’m ready to bring that same toughness to City Hall.'

Grimm faces an uphill battle in a city where Democrats vastly outnumber Republicans. Current Mayor Eric Adams, also a former law enforcement officer, has faced criticism over his handling of crime and the migrant crisis, potentially leaving an opening for a challenger.
