A FEMALE cop who found internet fame by posing topless in her patrol car has sensationally quit her job to avoid getting the sack.
Mexican police in Escobedo confirmed that officer Nidia Garcia had been suspended while they investigated the pictures showing her in her uniform flashing her breasts as she cuddles up to a rifle.
But before the investigation was completed, Garcia is said to have voluntarily handed in her notice - perhaps to take advantage of hundreds of modelling offers she has received since her racy photos went viral.
Local authorities said that as soon as Garcia resigned, the administrative process against her ended.
In a Facebook confession after the photo went viral, Nidia had admitted to posing for the snap - but denied uploading it onto social media.
"I apologise to the Proximity Justice Secretariat [local police force] and moreover to the city of Escobedo for this immoral act that I have committed,”she wrote.
"Since I would be incapable of uploading a photo like this, I am outraged by the great damage this publication brings to my two daughters, my husband, parents, brothers and entire family.
"I hereby admit my great fault in posing for the picture, and I ask for this topic to be left aside.
In the wake of the confession however, other pictures of her - including topless snaps - started to be widely shared on social media.
Several men's magazines and local businessmen even showed an interest in giving her a modelling contract, saying that they want to capitalise on her instant popularity.
Local entrepreneur Gerardo Herrera is one of those who believes Nidia’s instant fame should be exploited.
He said she should pose for "a professional photo session that plays with the imagination of her fans".

Three officers in Cuernavaca in the central state of Morelos are also in hot water after using a patrol car for a pornographic photo shoot.
The scandal came to light after the X-rated pictures were posted on the internet.
The mystery brunette was snapped posing topless in one shot on the back seat of the police vehicle and in a G-string on the bonnet by a main road with a second patrol car in the background in another.
A third photo posted on Facebook showed her on all fours on the back seat while two officers placed their hands on her bottom cheeks.
In November it emerged a woman police officer in the nearby city of Puebla and a male colleague had been suspended after photographs showing them performing a sex act were posted online.
The snaps were said to have been taken while they were on duty inside a patrol car on a public road.
Australian workers who have arrived in Canberra for a major event are pushing for one big change to help lift their wages.
