Stefanie Joosten ( / ˈ j oʊ s t ən / ; [4] Dutch: [ˈjoːstə(n)] ) is a Dutch model , singer and actress living in Japan . She first gained widespread public attention when Japanese developer Konami revealed she would be providing the motion capture , voice and likeness for the character Quiet in the 2015 video game Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain .

Stefanie Joosten was born in Roermond , Limburg , in the southeastern Netherlands . She attended the Bisschoppelijk College Broekhin in Roermond, where she followed a bilingual (Dutch and English) course. After growing up obsessed with otaku culture , Joosten decided to study Japanese language and culture at Leiden University . [3] In 2009, she went to Kyoto for a year as part of an exchange program . [1] It was after this experience that she decided she would move to Tokyo after earning her degree back in the Netherlands. [2]

While in Japan, Joosten came into contact with several modeling agencies that happened to specifically seek Western models. She started doing modeling jobs in 2011. After doing numerous small acting roles and commercials, [2] she got a call from a mystery agent who was looking for models to help with an undisclosed video game. Joosten, who had been into Japanese games since childhood, [2] became suspicious when she recognized one of the people during the auditions. She later found out this was the famous video game developer Hideo Kojima , giving her an idea of what she had auditioned for. She was chosen as both the visual and voice model for Quiet , a central female character in the Metal Gear game Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain . [1]

Joosten also sang the song "Quiet's Theme" from the game's original soundtrack .

Actress Stefanie Joosten, who played Quiet in Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, reveals that she was almost cast in the role of Fragile in Death Stranding.
One of the most-talked about new characters introduced in Metal Gear Solid 5 was the deadly Quiet, whose unique get-up quickly inspired cosplayers the world over. With Kojima no longer working at Konami, it's hard to say if we will ever see Quiet again, but as it turns out, the actress that played her, Stefanie Joosten, was almost cast in Death Stranding .
Joosten revealed this in a YouTube video hosted by YongYea. According to Joosten, Hideo Kojima talked to her about playing the character Fragile in Death Stranding when the game was still early in development, even sending over concept art of what the character would look like.
Unfortunately, communication between Joosten and Kojima Productions then broke down, with no word from the studio for a long time. Joosten then had her management contact Kojima Productions, at which point it was clarified that the role of Fragile was given to someone else. "That's when I found out I wasn't in Death Stranding . It was very confusing."
While this may seem a little harsh, Joosten isn't upset that she won't be in Death Stranding . "They probably wanted to use Hollywood actors and maybe reach a larger audience, so I totally understand. They're great actors, and they'll do an amazing job, so I don't want to be bitter about it."
As we now know, Lea Seydoux has been cast as Fragile in Death Stranding , which features a cast full of Hollywood celebrities. Mads Mikkelsen appears to be playing the main antagonist, and of course, Norman Reedus is the player character Sam Porter Bridges. Even Guillermo del Toro has lent his likeness to the game , though he is not actually playing his character.
There's still a lot of confusion surrounding Death Stranding 's plot and the relationship of all these characters, and so it remains to be seen if the full game will make sense or be overly confusing. Kojima has shown he can deliver both kinds of narrative, so we'll see which direction he takes with Death Stranding when the game launches later this year.
Death Stranding will launch on November 8, exclusively for PlayStation 4.

Metal Gear Solid 5 Quiet’s Actress Is Working On A New Mech Game

Stefanie Joosten, whom you may remember as the actress who played Quiet in Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain , is busy at work with a mecha game.
She will be bringing her Japanese gaming expertise to 110 Industries as a creative director for an upcoming title called Vengeance Is Mine . The game will not only feature a sleek-looking mech in the teaser below, but also a time-manipulation mechanic that lets players speed up time and blink towards enemies. Players can also rewind time to readjust their attacks or just avoid death altogether.
