Messages from a Wuhan Netizen

(16 Apr) To ensure safety, I won’t use internet censorship circumvention on my computer. I can only use my phone to take pictures on the screen. The image resolution will be low for sure. I will try my best to let you read it clearly.

Around 20 Dec 2019, I read the news of suspected SARS epidemic in Wuhan through Taiwan and International media. (At that time, I didn’t know it was a SARS related virus with a higher threat) I started to be aware of this situation every day. 

On 30 and 31 Dec 2019, I knew that Dr. Li Min Liang as a representative of 8 other doctors were all arrested. The international media also reported a hospital at Hàn Kǒu Jīn Yín Tán in Hubei was overcrowded; Then, I went to buy masks.

I lived in the small community nearby Shí Pái Lǐng in Wuchang. Walk towards the south along the road around a few thousand meters is South Lake District. If you walk a few thousand meters more, you will arrive at Jiang Xia district. The laboratory of Wuhan Institute of Virology is located in Jin Long Main Street, Jiang Xia.

The other buildings on the map also belong to Wuhan Institute of Virology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. 

On the evening of 31 Dec, I still went out to buy masks; because I’d well known the meaning behind arresting the doctors and the report pf “8 people are spreading rumours” from CCAV. 

During the daytime of 31 Dec, I already heard the ambulance siren from the outside. From 9 am to before my bedtime, there are more than ten times I heard ambulances siren. (The police car, firetruck and ambulance siren are different in PRC)

The unusual numbers of ambulances passed by and the international reports; I felt even more suspicious about the virus situation. Therefore, I went out to buy masks.

The nearest hospital from my house is the People’s Liberation Army’s General Hospital of Central Theater Command. It is opened to the public and located around 20 minutes walk from my residence. After I bought my masks, I didn’t go straight to my house. Instead, I walked to the hospital. In these 20 minutes, there were 3 ambulances with the siren on passed by and 2 of them were labelled as “Jiang Xia First Aid Center”

When I arrived at the intersection in front of the hospital’s entrance, I stood on the pedestrian bridge to look over the situation in the hospital.

The red circles are labelled as the hospital, pedestrian bridge at the intersection and emergency room. The ambulances were stopped at the emergency room and sent the patients in.

I didn’t recall the exact time. By the time that I was on the bridge, there were two more ambulances from Jiang Xia First Aid Center came in. 

From the pharmacy that I bought the masks to the bridge is the same road to my house. It is called Xi Pai Ling Road. Ambulances that I saw were all from the south of this road.

Do you still remember the news that CCP reported at the beginning of the virus outbreak? The CCP confirmed the virus originated from the Hua Nan seafood market at Xin Hau road. It was from the bats, pangolins and civets.

Why are the ambulances were from Jiang Xia?

If the epidemic had infected Jiang Xia district, the city center of Wuhan must be infected long ago.

It was impossible that none of the patients near my residence.

I'm not a medical professional, but I still have the basics of virus infection.

The Hua Nan seafood market is across the Chang Jiang river. It is also located far away from the opposite riverside. If the virus spreads from the Hua Nan seafood market to Jiang Xia District, in between the two is the highest population area of Wuhan, but there are none infected patients.

Which means, at the time of 31 Dec 2019, apart from Hàn Kǒu Jīn Yín Tán hospital, most of the patients were from Jiang Xia.

Another problem: the hospital near my residence was a few kilometres from Jiang Xia. Why are the ambulances sent to the General Hospital of Central Theater Command near my house?

If the Jiang Xia hospitals are not overcrowded with patients, why the ambulance staff gave up the nearby hospitals and sent the patients to the hospital near my house?

I will show you the foundings I got from Baidu Map. 

Starting point: Wuhan Institute of Virology

Destination: the General Hospital of Central Theater Command

I chose the driving mode.

“Jin Long Main Road Biological Technology” is the name of the bus stop in front of the Virus Laboratory.

Be aware that I’ve chosen the shortest route.

There are two routes recommended by the map. Those are respectively passing by the Wuhan Train Station entrance and Luo Shi Second Circle Line Road. 

On 31 Dec, it was winter and the sunsets earlier. When I went to buy masks, it was off-hours peak time. The Wuhan Train Station entrance and Luo Shi Second Circle Line Road were having heavy traffics.

The Shí Pái Lǐng became the best route to send patients since there is no traffic even at peak time. 

Wuhan Train Station entrance and Luo Shi Second Circle Line Road were having heavy traffics at peak time is well-known by the locals. 

I zoomed in to the route.

From Jin Long Main Street Biological Technology to the General Hospital of Central Theater Command, by choosing the shortest route, it will pass the road in front of my residence: Shí Pái Lǐng Road.

Now, we assume the virus leaked from the laboratory.

The individuals in the laboratory are not sufficient enough to fill up the hospital in Jiang Xia Districts and in the results of sending patients to the General Hospital of Central Theater Command near my residence. 

However, there are numerous factories nearby the laboratory. Assuming the leakage of the virus polluted the water source or spread out through other channels and infected the workers in the nearby factories. Since the virus has 14 days incubation period, the patients (workers) were spreading the virus to their co-workers, families and the community without knowing they are infected. The crowdedness of hospitals in Jiang Xia District is the result of the virus spread. Hence, the patients sent to the General Hospital of Central Theater Command.

There is no residential area near the laboratory from the Baidu Map.

The employees in the laboratory and the factory workers can take the 919 bus route (only public transport), drive their vehicles or possibly take the company shuttle bus.  

I did not visit the place before, so I would not go further on this topic.

From Baidu Map, the residential area is 4 km away from the laboratory.

The leakage from the virus laboratory and the community was infected by the factory workers are both assumptions.

However, my direct observation on 31 Dec 2019 and the results from Baidu Map are facts. I can assure you and all the people in the world, what I saw on 31 Dec 2019 was true.

I hope you can share the information as much as you can. Of course, don’t add on other information to my assumption and observation.
