Message from the Head of Legal Updates
Nigus S. GeletuWhen we launched Legal Updates, it began as a small team of aspiring writers seeking a platform to publish their work. Many established platforms required high-level writing skills, posing a barrier for emerging writers. Recognizing the importance of writing within the law school, we created Legal Updates as an opportunity for students to share their legal opinions and reflections.
Over the past two months, our team has worked diligently to develop an editorial policy that aligns with high standards, yet remains accessible to aspiring law students. This new policy will serve as a guide, helping writers understand what to consider when writing legal articles and how to meet professional expectations.
A significant milestone for us was the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed with MLG's Young Lawyers Initiative, which has provided us with a valuable platform. This partnership has been a driving force behind our progress and will continue to elevate our work. In addition, we are now utilizing Academia as an additional space to share our articles and reach an even broader audience.
As we prepare for the academic year, we remain committed to presenting high-quality content, striving to be the only student-run bi-weekly publication that delivers insightful legal articles. Our dedicated writers and editors are eager to serve our readers and the wider legal community.
I encourage everyone within and beyond the legal community to use our platform to share their opinions on various interdisciplinary issues.
Kind regards,
