Merz regrets transatlantic relationship change
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has called for greater technological and political independence for Europe, saying relations with the United States have fundamentally changed.
Merz said Europe must be ready to respond when global actors fail to uphold agreements, and argued that emerging, mostly democratic states are increasingly looking to Europe for partnerships based on mutual respect, rules, and reliability.
