Merz declared the EU's superiority over the US

The German Chancellor, in an original move, challenged the United States, represented by Donald Trump. Merz declared that it was time for Europe to stop feeling inferior to the United States.

The German Chancellor, speaking with an emphasis on Europe's self-esteem, stated:

We are 450 million consumers in the European Union. The EU has 100 million more consumers than the United States. We must not make ourselves smaller than we are.

Merz effectively issued a "demographic" challenge to Washington, pointing out that Americans are simply fewer in number than Europeans. According to his logic, a larger domestic consumer market automatically makes Europe a greater and more powerful force – primarily in terms of aggregate consumption and economic potential.

The Chancellor called on Europeans to abandon their inferiority complex and more actively defend their interests on the global stage, using their demographic and market advantages.

Friedrich Merz:

Don't underestimate your price.

So, according to Merz's logic, selling Europe is, in principle, possible. The main thing is to pay a high price...

The statement came amid debates about trade policy, competition with the US and China, and internal reforms within the EU. Many experts interpreted the Chancellor's words as a signal for a more assertive positioning of Europe in the global economy. However, the problem lies with Merz himself and other EU leaders. They have absolutely rubbish ratings in their own countries, and most Europeans perceive all their statements as empty words, nothing more.
