There are a few firsts that every guy remembers: His first erection, his first time seeing a naked woman, his first time “doing the deed;” and then there’s the one that no man forgets, even though he wishes he could: his first time caught masturbating.

So if you do get caught, here are my three tips to help you tackle this awkward situation like a pro, in the moment, immediately after, and most importantly, dealing with the aftermath.
If someone barges into your solo session, your fear level escalates to a DEFCON 1. Your eyes often closed, you’re over-exposed - maybe holding a masturbation toy - and don’t get me started on the facial expressions.
So what to do if you’re in the heat of the moment when you get an unexpected audience ? It’s completely acceptable to be alarmed. You may jump up, scream, dive into the nearest dark hole — and that’s okay.
Once you recover from your initial reaction (to cover up as quickly as humanly possible), don’t go into defensive mode. Getting defensive implies that you were doing something shameful, which you weren’t.

Chances are, while you were going into self-preservation mode, your visitor excused herself and is now contemplating how to proceed.
While your first instinct might be to deny, deny, deny (“I was checking for suspicious mole activity!”) or to avoid the person like the plague, it’s better to talk it out immediately.
Remember that you control the tone of the conversation - it’s not awkward unless you make it awkward. Masturbation is COMPLETELY natural, nothing to be embarrassed about. If you’re not embarrassed, then your intruder has no reason to be.
If she’s not happy with what she witnessed, you have some talking to do... but not because you did anything wrong.

Think of it this way: You used to be a television watcher. You had your favorite programs and planned your nights around them. Then you get Netflix, which is like television but offers content in a different way. Does that mean you call the cable company and say “No TV for me thanks, I’m good”. No you do not. Sometimes you want to catch a live TV show and some OnDemand action in the same night. The two may provide similar service, but they both have separate things to offer. You’re not going to cancel your solo sessions because you also have a rocking sex life.

A woman near Washington Avenue and Mojave Road says she's shocked and disturbed after she saw a man masturbating in front of her house on surveillance video.
The woman, who wanted us to protect her identity because the man is still at large, says it all happened early Sunday around 1 a.m.
She says she was having a party at her house and heard a rustling noise near the window. When she and her husband went to check it out, they saw a man outside.
They chased him down, thinking he was trying to break in. He eventually jumped into a neighbor's yard and was gone by the time police arrived.
When she went back and checked her surveillance video, she was shocked to see the man had been there for 30 minutes, at one point touching himself in front of her house.
"I was the only one the room so I know he wasn't looking at anyone else," she says.
She says since the incident, she's been afraid to be in her own home, especially with a young son. She wants the man caught and has a message for him.
"He's disgusting," she says. "He needs to really realize what he's doing to people and disturbing people's peace of mind."
