Memorial Student Government Wins State Award

The Memorial High School Student Government Association has received the Texas Association of Student Councils Distinguished Chapter Award, the highest recognition that the state student government association provides to the campus student government organisations whose programmes, projects, and service records the evaluation committee has assessed.

The Evaluation

The Distinguished Chapter Award evaluation examines the specific dimensions of student government performance: the community service programme whose hours and impact the application documents; the campus leadership that the student government has provided; and the specific leadership development opportunities that the organisation has provided for its members. The Memorial SGA application documented the specific food drive that raised 4,200 pounds of food for the local food bank, the specific campus beautification project, and the specific mental health awareness campaign.

The Recognition

The Distinguished Chapter designation represents the specific institutional recognition of the student government work that the Memorial SGA has been developing under the faculty advisor supervision.
