Memorial Science Fair Sends Twelve Projects to Regional Competition

The Memorial High School science fair produced twelve projects assessed by the faculty judges panel as meriting advancement to the regional science fair competition. The projects span STEM categories with particular strength this year in biology and environmental science.

The Projects

The project drawing the most attention from the judging panel: a junior who conducted a six-month longitudinal study of microplastic concentrations in the Wichita Falls municipal water system. The study used analytical chemistry techniques learned through the Advanced Chemistry curriculum and applied to a locally sourced research question. The panel described the project as both methodologically sophisticated and locally relevant. The initiative is the science that the science fair is designed to reward.

The Regional Competition
