Memorial Robotics Team Wins Regional Title

The Memorial High School Robotics Team -- Team 1844, the Mavericks -- won the regional FIRST Robotics Competition title at the Dallas Regional, qualifying for the FIRST Championship in Houston for the second consecutive year. The team of 28 student members built and programmed the robot that competed across two days of qualification matches and the elimination rounds that produced the regional championship.

The Competition

The Memorial robot design this year featured the specific mechanism that the team spent six weeks of build season developing: the intake and scoring system that allowed the robot to cycle game pieces at the rate that the highest-performing teams at the regional achieved. The driver team of senior Priya Chatterjee and junior Marcus Williams produced the specific driving performance that the qualification round results document.

The Championship

The FIRST Championship in Houston brings the top teams from every regional to compete at the sport highest level. The Memorial team attends for the second consecutive year with the specific experience advantage that the prior championship participation provides. The Maverick Gazette will cover the championship.
