History of the Memorial Belltower

The idea for the Memorial Belltower began in 1920 as a way to honor NC State students and alumni who served in World War I. Construction started in 1937 but was not fully completed until 2021, when a 50-bell carillon was added, allowing the tower to finally ring. The Belltower at Henry Square, as it is officially named, is made of Indiana limestone and is a National Register of Historic Places landmark.
