Fox411: Jenna Jameson and Traci Lords are but a few previously X-rated performers who have managed to parlay their controversial careers into the mainstream
Many times porn stars are considered social outcasts once they leave the adult entertainment industry, but there are a few previously X-rated performers who have managed to parlay their controversial careers into the mainstream.
Jenna Jameson Once dubbed the queen of the adult entertainment genre, she used her fan base to gain the attention of Hollywood. The mother of three starred in major movies, such as Howard Stern’s “Private Parts,” and appeared on TV shows, like “Family Guy.” The 43-year-old also published the best-selling book “Sugar” and her autobiography “How to Make Love Like a Porn Star: A Cautionary Tale.”
Sasha Grey She won Female Performer of the Year at the 2008 AVN Awards but then segued into a role in 2009’s “The Girlfriend Experience.” She also played herself in the HBO hit series “Entourage.” The star dabbled in modeling, appearing in ads for Max Azria and American Apparel. Like Jameson, she is also an author, penning novels “Neü Sex” and “The Juliette Society.”

Sunny Leone She was born Karenjit Kaur Vohra and later adapted her stage persona and went on to star in dozens of adult films. She later made the surprising change from adult actress to Bollywood star in 2012. She announced her retirement from porn in 2013. In July 2017, Leone adopted a child with her husband Daniel Weber.
Sibel Kekilli The German actress is known for her role as Shae in the HBO series “Game of Thrones” however prior to her small screen achievement she worked in pornography. The actress kept her adult film job a secret from her family but when she began to get acting parts in German films, a reporter unearthed her salacious past which Kekili condemned as a smear campaign. Since then she has become an advocate for women’s rights.
Traci Lords She broke the law when she broke into the adult business. At only 15, the now 49-year-old used a fake ID to land herself in Penthouse magazine and a slew of adult movies. When she was caught in 1986, porn distributors had to pull all of her films because they featured her as a minor. But that setback didn’t stop Lords from vying for legitimate acting jobs. She landed a gig in mainstream acting in the 1988 cult classic “Cry-baby.” She went on to appear in many TV and film roles.

Former “ Boy Meets World ” actress-turned-porn star, Maitland Ward , is being sued by a former co-star in one of her adult films.
Ward, 43, surprised the world last year when she announced that she was embarking on a career as an adult film actress after rising to fame in the 1990s on the ABC coming of age comedy. However, it seems her transition into the business is not going as smoothly as planned.
According to TMZ , she is being sued by a reality TV and adult entertainment actress as well as a videographer/editor after allegedly keeping money they initially cut a deal for together in 2018.
"I have not seen or worked with either of the two people making these accusations since June of 2019. Each time prior to that time period, both were compensated for their time and efforts in creating adult content that both parties used and shared on our paid platforms," Ward told Fox News in a statement. "This story of selling a video is false. I decided to go professional as of July 2019, and no longer work with either of these two individuals, or any amateurs for that matter."

“The fact that these long time friends have gotten together after so many months to sue me is complete slander and immoral. There are zero contracts and agreements that have any info pertaining to this completely made up story,” the statement continued in part.
She concluded: "I find their current actions highly suspicious, taking place during an industry shutdown, that this lawsuit is being published now from work done over 2 years ago. This serves as a warning to all Adult Film Stars to be careful of outsiders that you work with. Anyone can make up lies in order to go through the efforts to extort money from you."
TMZ reports that Ward, the unnamed actress and the videographer began working together in July 2017. They hit it off and Ward and the actress reportedly began having a relationship off-screen. However, the relationship turned sour, which put a deal they previously cut around Sept. 2018 into question. The actress and the videographer/editor are now suing Ward for allegedly keeping the money that they had all agreed to split.
The outlet reports that they’re claiming Ward tried to string them along with bad checks, and they’re now looking for their payday with the actress seeking $180,000 and the videographer seeking $90,000 in addition to other damages.

Prior to her work in the adult film industry, Ward was best known as Rachel McGuire on “Boy Meets World.” However, she also had roles on “Home Improvement,” “Rules of Engagement” and the 2004 film “White Chicks.”
Ward addressed her critics at the time, saying: "I give no f---s. I am who I am. I am a sexual actress, person who just wants to show the world everything and I don't care. It's authentically me.”
She concluded: "There's going to be even more taboo stuff to come...this is just the beginning."

A porn star who pleaded guilty to attempting to hire a hit man to kill the father of her three children has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, Fox News can confirm.
Katrina Danforth, 32, who performs under the name "Lynn Pleasant," was sentenced in Idaho federal court on Tuesday, court documents obtained by Fox News state.
"Defendant is hereby committed to the custody of the Bureau of Prisons to be imprisoned for a term of 120 months," a sentencing order for the adult film star reads.
Additionally, Danforth was ordered to "immediately" pay a special assessment fee of $100. She also received a fine of $1,000.
Following her 10-year sentence, court papers state that Danforth will be placed on supervised probation for three years.

Katrina Danforth, 32, was arrested Wednesday morning for allegedly masterminding a murder-for-hire plot.

The 32-year-old was arrested in December 2018 by federal agents in Washington state .
The investigation was sparked after Danforth apparently told her friend she wanted the father of her children killed, according to Idaho's The Spokesman-Review. Per court documents, her friend gave her the number of a "hit man" in Montana and she agreed to meet him in October.
During their meeting, Danforth "agreed to pay $5,000 in exchange for the murder" of a man only identified as "R.H." She allegedly laid out a few instructions: the target's body must be found and it was alright if others in his home were harmed.
Danforth allegedly mailed the supposed hired killer $2,500 in a thank you card from Idaho to his address in Montana in November. “This money was the down payment for the hit with the remaining $2,500 to be paid after R.H. was murdered," Assistant U.S. Attorney Traci Whelan wrote in court documents.
She pleaded guilty last August to two of five counts of illegal use of interstate commerce in the commission of a murder for hire.
