Meeting with representatives of the World Bank on the issue of decarbonization of the economy of Uzbekistan
EconomyMoliyaPressThe Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting with representatives of the World Bank on planning the decarbonization of the economy of Uzbekistan on February 13 of this year.
The seminar was attended by representatives of the World Bank on Energy under the leadership of Szilvia Doczi, Senior Energy Economist, and representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The purpose of the meeting is to inform about the work progress on the Decarbonization plan of the economy and its analysis, which is the basis of the Country Climate and Development Report (CCDR), present and discuss the main assumptions, preliminary results on the list of carbon neutrality scenarios and next steps.
The analytical approaches and links between CCDR and the Long-Term Strategy for Economy Decarbonization (LTS), policies and trends, as well as the way to achieve carbon neutrality in the energy, transport, industrial and other sectors were discussed during the meeting. Among other things, the experts announced scenarios for the transition to alternative and renewable energy sources, reducing the energy consumption of buildings through modernization and using more efficient, low-carbon technologies. At the same time, development, extraction and consumption scenarios of energy resources (coal, natural gas, oil products, electricity, etc.) in such areas as industry, transport, energy, agriculture, as well as among the population were presented for the.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed on presenting the preliminary results of the Climate Change and Development Report in February and the measures to be taken to complete this report in the first half of this year.
